Monday's AMC - Encore episode

If you're anything like me, you were on the edge of your seat on May 27 of this year when Jesse (Darnell Williams) leaped from the roof and made a death defying rescue of his true love Angie (Debbie Morgan). Proving evil does run in the family, Robert Gardner (David Rasche) had kidnapped Angie on her wedding day. It was Jesse to the rescue who not only saved Angie but was able to get Robert apprehended. Unfortunately Julia (Sydney Penny) lost her life at the hands of Robert and Tad (Michael E. Knight) almost lost his. Even long time friend, Greg Nelson (Laurence Lau) took a bullet that day. But justice and true love prevailed. Tune in on Monday, September 1 for an encore presentation of this exciting episode!

Susan Lucci to follow in Cameron's Dance Steps??

The cast of the new season of Dancing with the Stars is going to be announced on Good Morning America on Monday, August 25. Could there be another AMC representative this season? It seems like a distinct possibility! Susan Lucci (Erica) will be a guest on the morning talk show that very morning!! Susan has mentioned in interviews that she has been asked to participate in previous seasons but her schedule was always too busy to accommodate the grueling DWTS schedule.

Cameron Mathison (Ryan) competed on the dance show during it's fifth season but was eliminated in the eighth week.

Tune in Monday to find out if Susan does indeed "gotta dance!"

AMC to cast veteran!

AMC has put out a casting call for the character of Brot, but they aren't looking for just an actor for this role. AMC's casting director, Judy Blye Wilson, wants to cast an actual war veteran to play this part. Brot's character is the long time love of Taylor Thompson (Beth Ehlers) whom she believes died during his tour in Iraq. Brot's injuries have prevented him from contacting Taylor, not wanting to burden her and allowing her to think he's dead.

The story will unfold as soon as the veteran/actor is hired and will not only involve
Taylor but will also involve Dr. Jake Martin (Ricky Paull Goldin), who is very much anti-war and has put in his own time in a warzone while working in Darfur for Doctors Without Borders.

AMC is working with the organization USA Cares, a non profit group that provides support to wounded soldiers and families, to help the show with the accuracy of a military storyline and war injuries. I personally applaud AMC for telling this story. The war in Iraq is something that many people are affected by and can relate to and AMC is no stranger to tackling such important issues. Back in 1973, Mary Fickett (then Ruth), won the very first ever Emmy Award for a daytime actress when she delivered a very powerful anti-war speech about Vietnam.

Where Are They Now? Michael Brainard (1988-91, 1994, 1995)

Dr. Jake Martin's past marriage to Emily Ann Sago has come into play in recent storylines. Michael Brainard (ex-Joey) remembers that time on the show fondly:
"It was her [Liz Vassey's] choice to play it crazy. I tried to play that stuff straight up.”
To learn more about Brainard's time as the first adult Joey Martin, and what he is up to today, check out his interview HERE.

Get ready for the return of Dr. David - He Saves Lives Dammit!!!

What a move in a hugely positive direction!! AMC is bringing back quintessential baddie, Dr. David Hayward come this fall. Vincent Irizarry will be reprising the fan fave roll. A first airdate is not yet available.

Talk of this return started when his stint on Young and the Restless recently came to an end. So Y & R's loss is now AMC's gain! David still has family in Pine Valley with former sister in law Greenlee (Rebecca Budig) and daughter Babe (Amanda Baker). Not to mention his past with Krystal (Bobbie Eakes). And let's not forget the big rivalry between Dr. David and Dr. Jake Martin (Ricky Paull Goldin). I can't wait to see those fireworks explode again!

What brings David back to Pine Valley and just what kind of trouble he'll create are going to be fun to anticipate. And hmmm... what about a love interest? Might there be more than a doctor/doctor rivalry between Jake and David again? The two certainly did have the same taste in women. Both were involved with Gillian (Esta TerBlanche), Liza (Marcy Walker) and Allie Doyle (Alla Korot). The possibilities are endless - look out Taylor Thompson (Beth Ehlers)!!!

Dre loses two very important people in his life!

It's been talked about quite a bit but confirmation has finally been received. YaYa DaCosta will be leaving the role of Cassandra Foster on August 25. As previously reported, YaYa has been cast in the off-Broadway production of The First Breeze of Summer. At this time it is unclear if the role will be recast or if Cassandra will return to Paris.

Also slated to leave in the near future is Dre's father, Samuel Woods played by Mario Van Peebles. Mario returns to his recurring role on the FX hit drama Damages. The busy actor/director is constantly working in films as well. The role will most likely not be recast, we'll probably just see Sam leave to go on the campaign trail. But it doesn't help that his romance with Erica hasn't captivated viewers.

FLASHBACK - August 12, 1997

Eleven years ago today, TransGlobal Flight 149 from NYC to Pine Valley crashed into the cliffs above the Pine Valley ocean. What a horrific day!! Happy again, Maria went to NYC with Edmund and Brooke, who were working on a story together, with baby Maddie. Maria had finally found out that Maddie was truly Edmund's daughter and not the product of an ill advised one night stand between Maria and Edmund's brother Dimitri. She was looking for the perfect time to tell Edmund the great news. But the return trip was anything but idyllic. Maria and Brooke switched seats so Edmund and Brooke could finish up the story. The crash threw Brooke from the wreckage and the only other conscious person she found was a stranger named Jim Thomason. Together they pulled an unconscious Edmund from the wreckage then went about the task of looking for Maria and Maddie.

Brooke found them, but Maria was pinned under a seat and could not free herself. Both Brooke and Jim tried to pull Maria free to no avail. She urged Brooke to save Maddie, which she did. But then the rest of the aircraft that was teetering over the side of the cliff started to shift with Maria still pinned inside of it! Knowing the end was near Brooke held onto Maddie and tearfully watched as that part of the plane fell over the cliff with Maria still inside. Maria was presumed dead and never had the opportunity to tell Edmund that that Skye Chandler faked Maddie's DNA results.

Spoilers for the week of August 11!

I hope you enjoy the new format of the PVB!! You can find the new Spoilers in the same place they have always been. Or you can just click the Spoilers link to the left.

Please feel free to leave comments and let us know how you like the new site!

Billy Miller lands on Y&R!!!

AMC's loss again, is another shows gain. Billy Miller (Richie) has been cast as the new Billy Abbott on Y & R! Since joining AMC in 2007, Richie's crimes started piling up from the forgivable pretending of being someone else, to the unforgivable stealing of JR's bone marrow, running down Zach and locking him and Greenlee in the bomb shelter. July 7 was the last day we saw Richie alive. But fear not Richie fans, he sticks around for awhile longer as the ghost that gnaws at Annie's conscience.

Colin Egglesfield dropped to recurring!!

It is inevitable that when a new head writer takes over, cast changes get made. The unfortunate first casualty is myJoshy, Colin Egglesfield, who goes from contract to recurring status. Joining the show in September 2005, Colin took over the role from original Josh Madden, Scott Kinworthy. Colin was then thrust front and center in one of AMC's most controversial storylines ever, the undoing of Erica Kane's groundbreaking abortion back in 1973. Messing with not just show history, but television history is never a good idea, but Colin played the role with gusto and became an integral part of the Kane family. But as time went on, it was clear that the character of Josh was being backburnered. He moved on from his obsession with Babe, his affair with Hannah was abruptly ended when Hannah met her demise. And his one night stand with Greenlee was a blink and you missed it moment. With so many missed opportunities for this talented and handsome actor, it comes as no surprise that Colin is on his way out. Technically, yes, he'll only be bumped to recurring at the end of his contract this fall, but recurring is only a hop, skip and a jump away from the Martin attic.

Matt Borlenghi does guest spot on Days!

Matt Borlenghi (ex-Brian) shows up on Days of Our Lives on September 18 as the mayor of Salem. This is just the tip of the iceberg for the busy actor! He is currently filming the horror movie Bloody Mary based on the legend of Mary Worth. And the short film he wrote and directed, Jack is on the film festival circuit. You can also catch Matt in the upcoming films, Alpha Dog and Venice Underground.

Is Cassandra Leaving?

Is YaYa DaCosta (Cassandra) on her way out already!? It seems like a very good possibility as word comes that she has been cast in the off-Broadway production of The First Breeze of Summer at the Peter Norton Space on West 42nd Street, NYC. She joins star and AMC alum Leslie Uggums (Rose Keefer) in the show that begins August 21 and will run until September 28. Previews will begin on August 5. The show is being directed by another AMC alum, Ruben Santiago-Hudson (Dr. McMillan - aka Simone's father). YaYa joined AMC in late April and with the teen storyline heating up, it would be a shame to lose her now. So far there has been no announcement of YaYa's departure from AMC.

Chrishell has a new man!!!

After a bad break up with her fiance back in mid 2007, Chrishell Stause (Amanda) was probably understandably gun-shy about dating. But it helps when a mutual friend like Colin Egglesfield (Josh) can vouch for the new guy, and that's what has happened! Chrishell is dating former professional basketball player, Graham Bunn. He played basketball for Appalachian State and then moved to Germany and played professionally there. You may know Graham as one of the contestants vying for a romance with this year's Bachelorette. Chrishell met him before he went on the show but the timing was off for both of them. After he was booted, they reconnected and have been steady ever since! Graham now runs a clothing line, 46, where the proceeds go to help children's charities. Sounds like a keeper!

Laurance Lau to ATWT!!

AMC's loss is ATWT's gain!!! Laurence Lau (ex-Greg Nelson) has been cast in the recurring role of Brian Wheatley on ATWT. He begins airing on August 18. It's a shame that AMC didn't capitalize on this popular soap vets return to AMC for long time friends Angie and Jesse's wedding. Not only did they not capitalize on it, they didn't even show him saying good bye to anyone! Let's hope the new head writer will be better at tying up loose ends!

Mark Consuelos update!!

Mark Consuelos (ex-Mateo) stars in the Hallmark Channel original movie, For the Love of Grace airing on Saturday, August 30. Mark plays Steve a firefighter who falls in love again after being widowed. The movie also stars Corbin Bersen and Chandra West. Mark will also be appearing on the third episode of this season's Ugly Betty tentatively scheduled for October 9.

Jacob Young and wife expecting!!

Jacob Young (JR) and wife Christen happily announced that they are expecting their first child, a boy, on November 19. The couple wed May 13, 2007. They plan to name their new addition Luke Wayne Young, but insists that the name Luke was chosen because it's biblical and are not naming their child after Jacob's former onscreen dad, Anthony Geary (Luke, GH). Best wishes to the happy couple!!!!

Natalia Cigliuti joins TNT drama!!

Natalia Cigliuti (ex-Anita) has been cast in the new Steven Bochco legal drama, Raising the Bar, to air on TNT. Natalia plays the character of Roberta Gillardi, a public defender. The show will premiere on Labor Day, September 1 at 10:00 pm EST, with an initial 10 episode order from TNT. It also stars Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Gloria Reuben and Jane Kaczmarek.
