Two Michael Fairman Interviews!

Leading soap guru Michael Fairman has recently interviewed several big names with AMC. Check out the indepth candid interview he did with Tamara Braun (Reese) for The Advocate.com. Tamara spells out her feelings about the direction the Bianca/Reese storyline took without casting blame or throwing anyone under the bus. A lesson a certain AMC writer needs to learn, a little something called class.

And he also interviewed those wacky women over at Pratt Falls (yeah, I called them "big names")!

Who Really Did It??

This week Alexander Cambius Sr., declared "Some fool out there decided to take advantage of the lesson in pain i was teaching my son, and i was greatly insulted to be blamed for this ridiculous crime. Poison pancakes. This was the work of an amateurish clown. I vehemently disavow any involvement in the murder of Dixie Cooney Martin."

So apparently we're to take the word of a raving lunatic who killed a bunch of women to teach his defiant son a lesson. If that's the case then who really did try to kill Babe but instead killed Dixie? Remember, the intended victim was Babe so the person in question would be after her, not Dixie. Unless of course, the killer was Babe herself. Then she, knowing she had poisoned those pancakes, would happily talk her mother in law into taking the rather disgusting sounding breakfast for herself while Babe watches her choke to death. But no, I don't think Babe did it. But who did?

Was it Alexander all along and he's just lying to cover up for the fact that this death was not his finest hour? Or was it Adam? He couldn't stand Babe, and well he couldn't stand Dixie either. It was a win-win for him. But would Adam risk Babe or Dixie giving a few bites of the filthy flapjacks to Little Adam? Or what about JR? He's tried to kill Babe before, what was to stop him again? He said he loved Babe, but he's said that before too. But would he risk Little Adam taking a taste of the grotesque griddle cakes?

Let's move on to the Kane family. How about Erica? She hated Babe for stealing Miranda. Sure Bianca forgave her, but Erica, not so much. Besides that Babe was making Kendall's life miserable by her presence at FUSION. And then there is Kendall herself. It's a known fact that Alicia Minshew's (Kendall) favorite food is peanut butter. Was this a little nod, a little clue? Then again, perhaps it was Zach. He could have done it for his wife, or his sister in law. Or for no reason at all. Or what about Bianca? Sure she forgave Babe for stealing Miranda, on the surface anyway. Did she really? Plus she's already killed before. All these years of love and forgiveness and maturity could all have been a big facade. The show is right on the precipice of destroying Bianca completely so why not finish her off by making her the perpetrator of the hostile hotcakes?

Was it one of these people? Or someone else? Someone like David perhaps? David has no motive. He loved both Babe and Dixie, and would never put Little A in danger. Yet, he's almost completely been turned into a one dimensional baddie that he must be considered.

The possibilities of foolishness are endless! It could be someone I mentioned or someone else entirely. And while I am no Dixie fan, it's very clear that this plotline was one of the worst ever (and that's saying a lot considering the show that actually brought an abortion back to life!). So vote, and then leave your comments on the blog post (as opposed to the poll itself, more people can see your comment this way)

Who really tried to kill Babe, but ended up killing Dixie?

Soap Opera Mania Tour Canceled!!!

Citing the economic climate as the cause, the Soap Opera Mania Tour has been canceled, affective immediately. The writing was on the wall from the onset of this event. One of the first events, in my own hometown of Cleveland, was far too expensive for me to attend ($100 and only one AMC star in attendance). The event cost changed to $90, then soon after the event here, it dropped down to $79. Still fans must not have been attending in droves! Fans who have already purchased tickets will be issued a refund. Check the Soap Opera Mania website for more information.

There seems to be a big lack of understanding in what soap fans want, but Super Soap Weekend in Orlando, Florida (also canceled) fit the bill very well. Every year it got bigger and bigger, with more fans and more stars. Speaking for myself I can tell the organizers of such events that this fan likes the opportunity to see lots of her favorite stars from her favorite soap. I realize that not all fans are like, and only watch one soap so the opportunity to meet more stars from more shows is a plus for them. But that is why SSW was so great. Lots of stars from lots of soaps.

The idea to bring the stars to the fans instead of having all the fans converge in one place, Disney World, sounded good on paper. The reality didn't work. It's time to cut your losses and bring back SSW both in FL and CA!!!!

This week from the Soap Blog Coalition!!!

Daytime Confidential's Jamey Giddens has another edition of his "Wishful Casting" and this time he has his sights set on former General Hospital star Amber Tamblyn. (Daytime Confidential)

The Serial Drama girls are trying to be open minded about Jamie Luner's version of Liza, but the AMC writers are making it very hard. (Serial Drama)

Guiding Light's Frank won't give up without a fight and Olivia tells Natalia there is no 'us.' (Soap Opera Examiner)

With the cancellation of "Soap Mania" is the Daytime World on High Alert? This is on the heels of ABC pulling the plug on Disney's Super Soap Weekend. Read about this and Kelly Monaco's PeepShow News plus a few new inside tidbits! (Wubs.net)

FLASHBACK: April, 1972

We here at the PVB, love to take trips down memory lane. So today we celebrate the 37th wedding anniversary of Joe and Ruth Martin!

Widower Dr. Joe Martin and Nurse Ruth Brent worked side by side at Pine Valley Hospital. But since Ruth was married, Joe could only be her friend and kept his growing love for her a secret. Still they grew ever closer as Ruth confided in Joe how her marriage was falling apart. And then when Joe's daughter Tara began dating Ruth's son, Phil, they had even more to talk about and listen to each other about.

Tragically, Ruth's husband Ted was killed in a car accident. It paved the way for Joe but ever the gentleman, he was there for her when she needed him. And I don't mean in a grief sex kind of way! Back in 1972, that particular act wasn't all that common. But as time went on, they grew closer and closer and before long they were the couple to go to if you needed advice, comfort, or friendship.

Everyone in town knew that someday they would marry and in April, 1972, in the Martin living room, around friends and family, they finally said their "I Do's." Joe's mother Kate welcomed Ruth into their home and family with open arms.

As the years went by, Joe and Ruth became a mainstay in Pine Valley society and as the stalwart couple that everyone respected. They have had their ups and downs, don't get me wrong. But love has always prevailed for these two and they remain the longest married couple in Pine Valley.

Today, they still live in Pine Valley, still work at Pine Valley Hospital but with significantly less hours and still try to help their children with their problems, especially Tad and Jake. And those boys could use all the help they can get!

So Happy Anniversary Joe and Ruth!!!!!
