Back in 2001, Adam Chandler and Liza Colby wed for the last time. And as usual it was full of drama. Adam was recently divorced from Arlene Vaughn (don't ask!) and Liza realized she still loved him. But then, complications come into full swing! Ahh you remember the Libidozone filled ride on the Fidelity right? Well, Hayley caught her mother trying to seduce Mateo during that little soiree and seemingly killed her. Adam found Arlene's body and, in an effort to protect Hayley, he threw Arlene's body overboard!
Riddled with guilt, Hayley took on her mother's persona and as "Arlene" she called all the Chandler's to meet her at the Fidelity. Adam hired a hitman to kill Arlene once and for all. The hitman shot Vanessa by mistake, and it was revealed that Arlene was really Hayley! So with no Arlene, Hayley was put on trial for murder. Adam admitted in court that it was him who threw Arlene overboard but soon after his admission, Mateo showed up in court with a very much alive Arlene who was living it up in the Caribbean! Hayley was free to go, but Adam was placed under house arrest. It was during this house arrest that he and Liza married for the third time.
It wasn't long after this though, that their happy re-reunion fizzled. They divorced in 2003.
If Adam married Liza 14 years ago, how come Colby is in her late teens/early 20's?
ReplyDeleteSoap Opera aging. LOL
In daytime, it is an alternate universe. Kids grow fast, and their parents get younger. Jamie Luner is in her late 30's! While Liza should be same age as Angie/Jesse/Tad. But Marcy Walker is now a religious leader, and done with acting.
ReplyDeleteAt least Mike Knight [Tad] looks his real age, now. It is good to see a 52 y/o actor not try too hard to look young, as John Callahan [Edmund] or Mike Nader [Dimitri], they had dye dripping from their hair.
Give me a break with the "Real" Liza. We've had enough of the "Real" Greenlee from ABC already.
ReplyDeleteDon't forget that these iconic characters were originally played by different actors:
ReplyDeleteDixie, Tad, Jake/Joey, JR, Colby, Scott, AJ, Miranda, Bianca, Kendall...
I'm sorry Kathy, but you are ABSOLUTELY WRONG in this! I distinctly remember Adam and Liza having a Christmas wedding, so I went to SoapCentral's archives:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.soapcentral.com/amc/recaps/1996/961216.php
They were married December 20, 1996. I also visited March 13, 1996. On that day, Tad told Dixie he thought Liza wanted to become the next Mrs. Adam Chandler...not sure if that's what you meant, but their wedding was most defintely at Christmas. That's when neither Tad nor Brooke interrupted the ceremony, resulting in the "accidental" marriage.
As far as Colby goes, she was born in May 1999, yet the show brought her back in 2006 and celebrated her Sweet 16 in September! It's bad enough to age a character that dramatically, but it really annoyed me that they even changed her birthdate!
Again, Soaps are an alternate reality. Ages of kids are stretched. With Damon, it looks like he was from a one nighter with Tad and Hillary, before Tad had amneisa and was 'Ted Orsini'.
ReplyDeleteOnly if they butcher a character is when they go too far.
@David, you're correct. I meant that Adam and Liza got married for the 3rd time on this day. Not first. But just an FYI, while I did inform my partner of this event if he wanted to write something, when something is posted by AMCHistory, that's not me nor did I write it. And I do believe he meant the "real Liza" comment as tongue in cheek. I do have a list of birthdays and special events hanging on a board above my desk, and as I looked at Adam and Liza wed #3, a few places above it is Adam and Erica wed #1 (March 8, 1984). Urgh.
ReplyDeleteNow, with the new posting, I even double checked with transcripts of the show from March 13, 2001 to make sure. And I'm sure :)
ReplyDeleteNow this posting will show AMCHistory as the poster, because he wrote the original. I wrote the updated/edited version and so it will continue to show AMCHistory as the poster. Confusing I know. But suffice it to say, in every other case, when something is posted by AMCHistory, it's not me.
ReplyDeleteEmily Ann Sago went from baby to Sweet 16 in 8 years, same with Joey Martin. While Bianca took 'forever' [12 years], to hit 16.
ReplyDeleteI think Colby may be the shortest time to reach 16!
Well TomCat, I think the WORST is soap history was DAYS Phillip. He was born in 1995, and in high school in 1999!
