ABC Daytime Goes Brenda Crazy!!!

Beginning July 17, Soapnet will be begin it's countdown to General Hospital's Vanessa Marcel (Brenda) return, with each day a relevant moment revealed.  But wait, there's more.  On August 10, all of ABC Daytime one both ABC and Soapnet will be devoted to Brenda.  Yes, AMC and OLTL will be pre-empted on Tuesday, August 10 and in their place will be GH reruns that feature Brenda as a lead in to the actresses return to GH on August 11.  Seriously.  I wish I was kidding, but I'm not.  I wonder if the person responsible for this overkill is the same genius who came up with "Real Greenlee Returns."

  1. OMG! I can't believe that ABC allows this type of warped thinking. I watch only one soap and all the promotion in the world will not entice me to add another one to my DVR. I think I'd rather have "teeny-bopper" summer back.

  2. This is another attempt by Frons & Company to recapture old glory by bringing back an Emmy winning actress to GH. It didn't work with Sarah Brown and Natalia Livingston - and it's unlikely to work with Vanessa Marcil.

Most of the people who have stopped watching GH have cited their dissatisfaction with the mob violence. So what are they doing? Bringing back Vanessa to try to humanize the Sonny character, who is NOT redeemable.

Even worse, they are wasting the talents of other cast members, who will be forced to take a backseat while the Brenda character eats the whole show. And what will happen when Vanessa's contract is up? She'll bolt for greener pastures, just as she has two times already.

I'll never understand why TPTB cater to these prima donnas and slight the loyal actors who keep the show going in their absence. It's an insult to the viewers who invest in the show during the prima donna's absence.
