Correction and Apologies all around
About a week or so ago, I reported about Keith Hamilton Cobb (ex-Noah) coming out and some disparaging remarks he made about a co-star. In the referenced article, he seemed to be pointing at Sydney Penny (ex-Julia). I've been informed by and extremely reliable source that the person Keith was talking about was in fact NOT Sydney. I don't know who it was about it, but I'm just glad to know who it isn't!

Well, I read the interview too and it certainly appeared that he was talking about Sydney Penny.
I think the magazine needs to apologize for the way they wrote it then. Because they certainly made it seem like he was talking about Sydney.
Pam and Ang... agree with you both.
It sounds like Keith is backpedaling to try to assuage the soap fans he ticked off. The article made it VERY clear he was talking about Sydney Penny.
Oh well, I'll play along. He was talking about some OTHER white love interest on AMC who suggested they kill him off........ Yeah, that's it.
Nutty... my belief is that the article misled and that the person he was talking about wasn't on AMC at all, but perhaps a different show he worked on.
Yup, I'm with Pam and Ang.
Even though she wasn't white, maybe he was talking about the 2nd actress who played Taylor. I did not like her AT ALL!!!!
Hmmm, I read the article with my own eyes and it sure sounded like it should have been Sydney. It was confusing though because he said that she talked TPTB into killing him off...well when he left the show, Noah went into Witness Protection. It was only in 2005, nine years later, that we learned that Noah had been killed.
BTW, Taylor Roxbury Cannon was not "white" so it couldn't have been that actress either.
Kathy, no one at Y&R fits the bill as "wanting his character killed off." That was strictly the AMC storyline.
My issue with this is the timing. That interview has been out for months, but there's been no one crying foul until now, when the soap fans heard about it. If Keith had truly been misquoted, don't you think he would have complained about it before this?
Sad to say, but this man has burned his bridges on the soaps. On Y&R, they paired him with two multiple Emmy winning actresses (Michelle Stafford and Heather Tom), with whom he had zero chemistry. That's why he was let go - he was given multiple chances, but he never really caught on (the same way that Eden is bombing as Heather; Y&R is a tough soap for many actors).
Nevertheless, he was given incredible opportunities and exposure on these shows. For him to badmouth anyone on the soaps - or his own fan base - is incredibly ungracious.
Thanks for clarifying VOLTAGE, since I said "even though she's not white"
**rolls eyes*
I'm not sure what you mean Nutty? Who on AMC would fit that bill? No one can come up with. I don't know anything about his time on Y&R but being paired with two actresses he had no chemistry with sounds more plausible to me that it would have come from there.
Kathy, as others here have stated, the only person Keith could possibly have been referring to was Sydney.
If that wasn't the case, why didn't he demand a correction and an apology? The fact that he didn't tells me that the interviewer didn't misquote him at all. The only "news" is that someone behind the scenes is trying to cover up what he said or make excuses for him after-the-fact..... and there's no need to do that.
I mean, really. Is it THAT big a deal if he didn't like Sydney? I suspect that many of these actors don't like each other, although they have the sense to keep quiet about it when a reporter comes calling. Keith's only crime was saying too much - he shattered the fans' illusions. I guess that's what happens when you come out. You tell the truth about things, even when they are hard to hear.
Maybe he did demand a retraction and they refused to print one? I don't know the whole story. I do know who told me it wasn't true and it's not someone I can disregard as trying to cover it up. But we all believe what we want to believe. And I certainly did believe it was about Sydney. Reading it, how can you not? But, I know otherwise now and felt it was my responsibility to pass it along.
I just went back to the story itself to see if a retraction or apology were offered. Interestingly, the author has not vanished - he is still answering people's questions in the comments section - and hasn't backed down from anything he has said. In fact, in his comments, he specifically stated that no one in Keith's camp has expressed any problem with the interview.
Since I don't know who you talked to - or whether they were present at this interview - I'll have to chalk this up as something I'll never know for sure.
The whole tone of this discussion is very disturbing. First of all, no one knows if Keith ever said anything disparaging about Penney or anyone else. Just because you read it somewhere doesn't make it true. And even if he did say these things, that doesn't mean that he should be fired from his job at someone's whim or denied the ability to earn a living in some other vehicle. Not liking another person and telling others about that dislike does not mean that that person should be fired or denied the opportunity to earn a living. No one knows what was said - we don't know what happened. This is just speculation. You want to kill his reputation on the basis of some gossip that you read that may or may not be true? This lynch mob mentality is very telling. Is this what Keith has been going through all of these years? Is that why we see so little of him? I am praying for him and for his protection. This is not right.
I'm sure that most of us have worked with people who did not like us. Well, speaking for myself, I have and one person tried to get me fired so to speak. So I know what he is going through. This is character assassination. I hope that nothing in these articles is true. Gossip. That's all that it is. I have met Keith. He did not strike me as the sort of person to do the things that he is being accused of doing. He has the kindest most gentle eyes I have ever seen on a man. He is soft spoken, intelligent and very gracious. I just find it hard to believe that he is arrogant and cocky. I don't believe it at all.
Part of me thanks you though - it explains so much about what has really been going on with him.
