The final hours are winding down. AMC ends taping for ABC today and I've been watching the posts go by on Facebook and Twitter.
From Ricky Paull Goldin (Jake): Hi live from the last day on the set of ALL MY CHILDREN!! Crazy emotional!!
Denise Vasi (Randi): Bittersweet feelings as I start my last day in Pine Valley! Big girls don't cry... or @ least they try not to ☺
Stephanie Gatschet (Madison): "The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance." ~Alan Watts
Christina Bennett Lind (Bianca): taking it minute by minute today, but feeling grateful and truly proud.
Cameron Mathison (Ryan): Thank you all for the well wishes on this last day of taping All My Children . Let's hope we are all back together again in a few months! xxoo
Vincent Irizarry (David) posted last night:
Today marks the final day of taping for the cast and crew of ALL MY CHILDREN under the auspices of ABC. "It's not doom and gloom around here," Executive Producer Julie Hanan Carruthers told Digest recently. "People are not walking the death march. I'm sure you know, August 30, when everybody walks out of here, we're going to go, 'Whoa, what happened?' But right now, nobody sees cancellation in their future [laughs]." There will be at least one honored guest present to bear witness to history; reports Julia Barr (Brooke), "Alexa Havins [Babe] is bringing the baby [one-year-old Lexington, with husband Justin Bruening, Jamie] in so we can all give her a kiss and a squeeze. It's hard to be sad when there's a baby around!"
For me, it's the end of an era. I feel like I've made my peace with it going off the air and I'm not really sure where the PVB goes from here, after September 23. The site will remain for the history and family trees, the board will go on. But whether or not I follow the show to the internet is yet to be determined. It's hard to imagine letting it all go after 13 years online and 30+ years of watching off an on. But like I said, I have made my peace with it. Whether I can stick to that is a different story. I'd love to hear your thoughts... are you sticking with it through thick and thin? Or have you made your peace with the end as well?

I really love the show so I'm sticking with it as long as the online one is good. If it's not good and none of the characters I care about are on I might tune out. We'll just have to wait and see but I'd give it a chance an watch the first episode. if it ever happens.
I'm not saying I won't watch AMC when and if it moves to the internet but I have dealt with it's cancelation and can move on without it. I really don't want a slip-shod production and replacement actors, so maybe I'll give the new guys a chance, but I'm not investing all my time anymore.
I'll be tepid about the online stuff. If there are some interesting storylines, or they start using more underutilized characters, I might try and tune in. But it might be a 1-2 times/week rather than now where I DVR every episode, which I've done for at least five years now.
Sidenote: no matter what happens, I want to thank you Kathy for the site. It's a wonderful tribute and source of information for fans of the show. There are countless times I've wasted time perusing through the Quick Guide character histories.
My thought is I'm waiting to see what they do w/the show on 23 September. If they've done a nice "ending" w/the characters and stories I love, then I'll probably say good-bye too and follow OLTL out until the end of January (I've picked them up since the announcement).
I've really enjoyed reading your site Kathy. You've been fun, informative and always stimulating. Thank you also for letting us into your "real life" a bit too. It helps keep us connected in this new world of "disconnectedness".
Much love and good wishes in whatever you do!
for me, it depends if they try to charge for it on the internet. Being retired, I am on a fixed income, so I have to watch the pennies......
I have watched and loved this show since almost the beginning..yes...I am that old, lol...I will miss it, and I will NEVER watch the Chew!!
I'm sticking with the show and loving it unconditionally in whatever form it airs in. We fought to save it, and it's still going to be created. We must support this medium and everyone connected to it. I'd hate to see Kathy give up the PVB.
I will always stick with the show - through good and bad. I've watched it since 1978 and if it makes it to the internet or whatever outlet they chose I will continue to follow it. I just can't imagine it not being on ever again. I will truly miss some of these actors that I feel I have grown up with.
Kathy, I chose to follow AMC to the internet. It should be interesting. We may lose some of the cast, but we'll get new ones and continue from there. Also I think it will eventually go to a cable station. It's always been my favorite soap. I hope you also choose to follow. I have always looked forward to the Pine Valley Bulletin. It's one of my favorite places. Don't give up. To many people rely on you and your wonderful information. A new chapter will begin on January 16th. You have to be there to cover all the wonderful news. Thank you for all your hard work. Nancy
To be honest, this show ending effects me on a level it shouldn't. I know how cheese-y, how corn-y, how badly written it can be. I've witness resurrections, recastings and those reminiscent episodes for those that past. I've watched this show since I can remember being able to remember. My grandmother (who lived with us) had it on everyday before her nap, my mother watched it as well. After my grandmother's death my sister would VHS tape the show and we would watch it after school. When my sister moved out, I caught the show when I could, dvr'd or soapnetted when I couldn't. I've stopped watching plenty of times and been drawn back in. It's a part of my life in an odd way and to see it go is truly sad.
I'm definitely going to watch it online. I think that some of the cast will be replaced (obviously, some already have other jobs), but I also think the writing will be good as they've already signed on Lorraine Broderick. For me, that was always the key: hiring a good writer.
As for you Kathy, I hope you reconsider and continue on here. As others have said, you will be missed if you don't. For me, AMC and the PVB go hand in hand.
I have watched AMC from the very first day it aired on ABC. I expect to move to the internet to watch it IF and when it comes to fruition. I have gotten a LOT of enjoyment out of it over the many years.
My son-in-law is quite talented and is oging to hook up my internet to the TV so I can watch it on my big TV as I always have. I can't imagine sitting in this darned computer chair over an hour to watch the show. My sore butt! LOL!
waiting to see how it ends first!
I will watch AMC no matter which venue is chosen. Who knows? Maybe it'll return to television one day if enough people watch online.
I think I'll check out the show when it goes online - I'm curious to see what happens.
I thank you for all the work you've done with this site. Becos I missed chunks of the show in the mid 90s through much of the millennium I appreciated the character bios and show synopses as a way to catch up.
i have loved AMC since the very first day. this may sound weird, but i'm glad it did not outlive me!
i've loved AMC since the first episode. this may sound strange, but i'm glad it didn't outlive me!
i've watched daytime since 1960, starting with ATWT, so it's been a 50 year plus run for me.
I'd love to say that I'm over it, but alas I can't be so sure. I started watching AMC in the summer of 1977, at the age of 9, with my grandmother. I've tried to stop watching it, and have actually sworn off the habit, many times. But I keep coming back. My husband is thrilled it's ending, however. He's always wondered how someone so educated can be sucked into something so inane, LOL. What am I going to watch while doing dishes and ironing? Don't know if it'll be the same on my LapTop.
I will watch AMC any way I can! Kathy, I have to say that I will miss you and the PVB terribly. Been reading your page since 1999. Every Sunday night I look forward to my PVB time. I hope you will keep it up. Thanks so much for all the years of hard work you put in!! <3 <3 <3
No matter what I AM looking forward to "ALL MY CHILDREN. 2.0" =) I AM ready to pay for the Internet version of my beloved serial. Only please Mrs. Susan Lucci stays on the show! P L E A S E ! ! !
