No Internet for Lucci?

Deadline.com reports today that Susan Lucci (Erica) has turned down the offer by Prospect Park to continue with AMC.  Reading this item made me angry, very angry.  I wasn't even going to post it.  All I could think of what that someone has it out for Susan (um hello Mr. Frons).   Here is a woman who has taken pay cuts, who has stood by the show through thick and thin when she really didn't have to, who uprooted her life in NYC where she has lived her whole life, and who towed the line, was fed lies and went out on her book tour repeating those lies (that the show was safe).  And now?  Now I'm supposed to believe that, as Deadline reports, "she tried to gouge the producers for more money while also asking to work fewer hours and get a commitment for a primetime series."  Sell that load of bull somewhere else.  I'm not buying it.  She may have turned down the offer, I'm not saying that isn't true, but all this other stuff?  No.  I don't believe it for one minute.  Could this be retaliation for Susan daring to tell the truth about Mr. Frons in her book?  And if Prospect Park doesn't do something to secure Susan, can AMC even continue?

  1. I agree with you, Kathy. The details of this report don't ring true nor do they fit Susan's established method of operation. I don't doubt she refused an offer, but not for these reasons. I hope she is not troubled by such scurrilous journalism.

  2. She's all class, all the time. Whatever she decides to do will be for the best interest of her career and her character. I'll be watching for her, as I will for the other performers, in whatever they decide to do. I wish them the very best and they assuredly will have a big fan base following them all.

  4. The Deadline report does seem quite antagonistic and as if it was written by someone with an agenda. I agree with you about that.

However, I'll be pissed off if the lack of Lucci means that PP abandons its plans to continue with AMC. I don't care if Lucci is on AMC or not. Honestly, I've made a habit of fast-forwarding whenever she appears on screen. For years, I've found all of the storylines for Erica to be totally contrived and uninteresting--including, no ESPECIALLY the last one with the kidnapping, and this Mike Roy one is no better.

  5. I agree I fast forward Erica's scenes too the kidnapping story? Give me a break. And no Mike Roy. I love Susan Lucci and she is a very classy lady but I'm ready for AMC to move on without her if AMC will even have a small semblance of what it used to be before. If it is a completely different show with no compelling plot anchors I will abandon it but even without Susan I will give it a chance. But if Greenlee doesn't continue, that's a different story i started getting back into the show when she started and I've followed her character ever since. But no one knows if these comments are true except for Susan and the people who published them. I guess time will tell if she has a counter-statement.

  6. I too do not care at all if Susan stays with AMC. She is probably my least favorite character on the show. I do not know if it is her or the writing for her character but she WAY over acts. She really gets on my nerves. I believe that the show will go on fine with out her.
