Merry Christmas!!!
Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and everything in between to all! It wouldn't be the holidays at the PVB without this posting! =)
A Christmas Message from Jill Larson
To All My Beloved Lovers of Pine Valley,
It is at the holiday time that one thinks of friends and family and longs to be in touch. And that is why I'm writing to all of you.
We have had a hard year, suffering the death of two of our shows, feeling our soap community scatter to parts unknown. When I stand on line at the grocery store and see the ABC Soaps-in-Depth magazine, I think they have to rename it..."Soap-In-Depth", it looks so sad sitting there with only General Hospital left.
But as with any loss, there is a special bonding and renewed appreciation that occurs between those who remain, and I certainly feel that. I have had some wonderful conversations with fans, people I meet on the street. Not that I haven't always had wonderful conversation with any of you I have had the pleasure of meeting, but somehow these exchanges feel more substantial as we discuss how the ending of AMC has affected each of us. I have so admired and marveled at your passion and your loyalty to all of us over the years, and I hope you know just how much it has always meant to us, and still means to us today.
Last Christmas was my first without my mother. As a family we thought of her, spoke about her, and kept her spirit alive in our hearts. That is what we must all do this year, our first Christmas without Pine Valley, we must remember the ideals and the spirit of the show, and of the whole community, and carry them with us in our hearts.
As Agnes said in the very beginning: The great and the least,
The weak and the strong,
The rich and the poor,
In sickness and in health,
In joy and sorrow,
In tragedy and triumph,
You are All My Children.
Wishing you all a wonder-filled holiday, and many more wonders in the new year!!
With Much Love,
Jill
Thanks for sending this along Debbie!

Frons is out!!!!
The news is nine years too late and unfortunately he wasn't fired which makes it a little less satisfying, but Brian Frons, the most hated man in all of daytime, is leaving ABC! Read all about it on Deadline.com and EW.com. I hope for the sake of CBS soap fans, he doesn't land there!

Very Interesting Indeed...
An article that appeared on TheDailyBeast.com recently has gotten quite a big reaction, from fans and actors alike! The article talks about what went wrong with Prospect Park's plans to launch AMC and OLTL online. But I think it's Cady McClain's (Dixie) rebuttal of the article that I find most interesting. Check out the article HERE, and Cady's response HERE.
It is, and has been my quiet opinion all along that we were had. That it was far too good to be true. And that it would never happen because there was no way they could come up with the money to make it happen. Quiet because so many were so excited and optimistic and I didn't want to step on that with my glass half empty attitude. After reading so much on what went wrong I guess I wasn't too far off. It's sad. Sad all around. For the cast and crew, for Agnes, for us. I said at the very beginning of all this, "I wish they had let AMC go with dignity," and I still wish that. Now we will forever have a half assed ending with no resolution. What a shame.

AMC (and OLTL) Will Not Continue Online
Official word just came in, AMC and OLTL will not continue online. Read Prospect Park's official statement HERE.
It's not exactly a surprise. The news has been filtering in all morning and I really just wanted us all to enjoy JR's big win last night and Thanksgiving and not have all the downer news posted, but there it is. It couldn't be avoided any longer. I guess there really is nothing more to say.

Congratulations to JR Martinez (Brot) and partner Karina Smirnoff for taking home the mirror ball trophy on Dancing with the Stars!!!

Susan Addresses Rumors
Susan Lucci (Erica) took to the airwaves of Facebook and her official website yesterday to try and clear up any misconceptions about her and Prospect Park. Her official statement is as follows:
I also recently read a statement by Vincent Irizzary (David) where he also had to deny he was the cause! Seriously, one person or persons is not to blame for the show not going on. There are many factors involved so putting the blame on an actor is beyond silly IMO.
I want my fans to know the truth. There has been miscommunications as a result of statements in the press that I am one of the reasons that All My Children is not moving forward. This is simply untrue and not the case. We have been in discussions since Prospect Park first expressed interest in moving the series online, and in correspondence dated September 8th, I made it clear that I would be ecstatic to be a part of All My Children in a prominent way if they committed to producing the series for another year. I have not heard back from Prospect Park since then, in fact, I learned of their decision not to proceed with All My Children at the same time you did, through the media.
It's been a privilege and honor to be involved with the All My Children family for so many years, from working closely with Agnes Nixon to getting to know millions of devoted and wonderful fans.

Happy Birthday Alexa Havins!!
Happy Birthday wishes to Alexa Havins!! AMC's Babe (former, and I guess we can call her the current Babe after her finale return) celebrates her 31st birthday today. Did you catch Alexa on the Starz original series Torchwood: Miracle Day? She rocked (as did the series!)

AMC Relaunch Put on Hold
Soaps In Depth is reporting that Prospect Park's plans to relaunch AMC in January have been put on hold. Not good, but not surprising considering the snails pace things have been going to secure actors/actresses for the online version of the show. With OLTL further along, The Online Network has decided it only needs one soap for it's line up. Will AMC ever be back? At this point, it's not looking good!

Oh, This Doesn't Sound Good
A new article posted by Studio Briefing states that bringing the soaps (AMC and OLTL) online has hit a snag. Well shoot, fans already knew that. Filming would have to start very soon if they were going to start airing on the internet in January and very few actors (on AMC anyway) have been nailed down. Let alone all the other problems that seem to be cropping up. Many of us have speculated, just how are they going to get the money for all this? That's pretty much what the article is saying too. The saga is turning into it's own soap within a soap... As the Internet Turns.

His star just keeps on rising!! As JR Martinez (Brot) dances himself into the hearts of America on Dancing with the Stars, he's landed himself on the cover of People Magazine and now has been named Grand Marshall of the Tournament of Roses parade! Held on January 2, 2012 the parade celebrates it's 123rd year with a theme of Just Imagine which celebrates the power of imagination, inspiration and determination to encourage people to reach higher and try harder. Tribute to Pine Valley Dish!
Ahh well, dish might be a little strong. There really wasn't much of that but it was fun anyway! I went to the event at Town Hall in NYC on Tuesday, October 25 with PVB friend, Kelli. And what a great time we had!! It started out with each of the guys being introduced one by one and coming out to the stage.... Walt Willey (Jack), Vincent Irizarry (David), Jacob Young (JR), Cameron Mathison (Ryan), Darnell Williams (Jesse) and Michael E. Knight (Tad). Walt and Cameron were given microphones to go out into the audience so fans can ask questions. There were some about the finale, general questions about this and that... nothing too memorable or that we haven't heard already. But one thing I do remember very clearly was that Jacob said that his contract with Bold & Beautiful is short term! So if/when the Prospect Park version of AMC gets off the ground, Jacob is not completely out of the picture to return as JR. One of the funniest things, to me anyway, was that whenever a question was directed to Jacob, Vincent (who was sitting right next to him) would say, "Oh you mean Rick Forrester?" referencing Jacob's B&B character. I think Jacob might have been getting a little irritated by it by the end of the Q&A!
Someone did thank Darnell for signing and he seemed still so unsure of how it will work or if it will ever get off the ground. Cameron chimed in as a Prospect Park cheerleader, assuring fans that it will happen. After fans asked questions, the guys then asked us questions, about the show for prizes (the "Who Did JR Shoot?" t-shirt autographed by all the guys). And then fans got to stump the actors for the same prize.
The best part of the night, for me anyway, was when the guys got to tell behind the scenes stories. Both Walt and Michael had hilarious stories about Ruth Warrick (Phoebe), with Walt's being my favorite story of the night. Of course I'm paraphrasing here and going by memory, but the gist of it was that during Cliff and Nina's wedding, on location. Walt was just an extra at the time. The venue was very strict and had a ton of rules about what they could and could not do and the director of the venue gave a big speech about no smoking, no eating, no drinking etc... Ruth Warrick looked at the venue representative and said, "If the sofa's have slipcovers can we f**k on them?" Oh to have been there to hear that!
Michael's story about Ruth was much different. Apparently she was a notorious, um, well I can't really say this delicately so I'll just say it, farter. Everyone knew it, everyone ignored it. It was just Ruth being Ruth. But when there were visitors to the set, they didn't know how to handle it! Case in point, Ian Buchanan (ex-Dr. Madden) was visiting Finola Hughes (ex-Anna) on the set one day and Ruth went by tooting her way along. Michael recalls the hilarious look of absolute confusion that Ian experienced seeing the legendary Ruth Warrick farting her way across the stage! Years later when Ian returned, this time as Dr. Madden, Michael asked him if he remembered that visit to the set, and he did... oh boy did he ever!
Vincent recalled a not so pleasant first meeting with James Mitchell (Palmer) while Vincent was still on Guiding Light. They were sharing a car to take them to an event and Vincent was very late, making James wait in the car for however long it was. Years later when Vincent joined AMC he asked James if he remembered him, and James very distinctly said to him, "Oh yes, I remember you." But they did become great friends after that.
Michael and Walt recalled the trouble James Mitchell and Ruth Warrick had once teleprompters were taken out. Michael said that Ruth still always looked in the spot where they were, even years after they were taken out, even though she knew her lines. James on the other hand would write his lines on index cards and hide them all over the set that he would be filming in. To mess with him, Michael and others, would take the cards and mix them up and change their locations. Then James would be wondering around and muttering... "no, that's not right" until he found the correct card!
Michael also told a funny story about Eileen Herlie (Myrtle). During a Crystal Ball scene, which took many many hours to film and often went well into the night, Michael was in the background with Eileen for part of the shoot. She kept pointing to his teeth very casually and subtly. Michael assumed that he had something in his teeth and kept trying to get it out and then showing her. She just kept pointing back at his teeth. At the end of the scene he asked her what was wrong and she replied, "Oh nothing, I was just bored so I thought I'd f**k with you."
All of the actors had the utmost respect for the elder statesmen of the show. Especially Jacob for David Canary. He spoke of how much he absolutely loved working with him. They all loved hearing the stories they had to tell of old Hollywood.
Once the first part of night was over, there was a short intermission and then we were ushered back in for the meet and greet. Unfortunately this part didn't go as well. It was chaotic and disorganized. Having been to my share of events, I took it in stride. They promised everyone would get their chance to meet each of the stars, so you have to trust that it will happen. It did. It may not have been the dream meeting some had in mind, but it did happen nonetheless. The night went well over the time it was scheduled to end. It was the first of the events, and as always there are problems that need to be ironed out.
If you'd like to see all of my photos, check them out on Facebook. I have made the album public so everyone should be able to check them out!

She will be connected to Billy (played by Billy Miller, who played Annie's psycho brother Richie!) arrest. Y&R also snagged AMC's award winning Casting Director, Judy Blye Wilson.

Little PP Updates
There hasn't been any major news from Prospect Park lately regarding AMC. But what I do have is some encouraging words from Cameron Mathison (Ryan) and Lindsay Hartley (Cara). When asked on his FB page about where AMC will be filming when it heads to the internet and that they were surprised more names hadn't been announced yet, Cameron replied: "We will shoot in LA. More AMC actors coming!!"
And this morning Lindsay Hartley posted via her Twitter, "Morning everyone! Met with prospect park yesterday and discussed AMC. It's really happening baby! And soon!"

It's amazing, you're amazing and I want to thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for all the love, support and everything else you have shown me over the years. I haven't made a final decision on the future of the PVB, this is just me being grateful and wanting to show it. ~ Kathy

My AMC Top 10
Looking back through the years I have loved AMC, there have probably been more favorite moments and storylines than I can count. How can I possibly narrow it down to 10? It wasn't easy. There are so many storylines I have loved. So many characters. So many couples. Here we go, in no particular order.
1) Erica and Dimitri's romance. This is the stuff of fairy tales. To me Dimitri was Erica's one true love. Sure I've liked her with others, and I like her with Jack. But Dimitri? He was it. The mysterious Count Andrassy, living in that big castle (which happens to be located in Pine Valley, PA - possibly next to the ocean). Dark and gothic. And so romantic. How could Erica not fall in love with him? Especially after they started out hating each other, sort of. Dimitri was poised to take over Enchantment from Erica, but Erica would not go quietly. She wasn't going to lose her company to Dimitri. Sparring turns to romance and the rest is history! Well, there's also deception, infidelity, drug addiction, miscarriage and all kinds of other good stuff thrown in. Legendary!

2) Jenny and Jesse run away to NYC. This was very early on when I started watching and it hooked me in big time. The friendship these two shared was beautiful. It wasn't marred by either one of them having a romantic notion. It was pure and sweet, despite the seediness that forced them out on the run at the hands of Liza Colby. Liza found out about Jenny's father Ray's crimes and threatened to expose them all to Greg. Liza also falsely accused Jesse of rape. With all this on their minds, the two ran away and spent the summer in NYC.
3) Stuart and Marian hook up, fall in love, and get married. Classic! Pure gold. Marian is trying to help Liza by seducing Adam and taking photos, thus giving Liza reason to divorce him. What she didn't know was that she was actually seducing Stuart! I am absolutely thrilled that I was able to find this clip! It's one of the best, where a drunken Marian describes what an amazing lover "Adam" is to Opal.
4) Natalie gets thrown in a well and Janet takes over her life. Doppelganger stories aren't exactly rare, but this one was better than the average story and beautifully played by Kate Collins (Natalie/Janet). Forever jealous of her more sophisticated and charming sister Natalie, Janet had all she could stand when Nat was getting ready to marry her love, Trevor. Janet kept hearing her mother's voice putting her down so she decided she would just become the favorite daughter by kidnapping Natalie, stashing her in a well and marrying Trevor herself, as Natalie. They even consummated their union, resulting in Amanda. Mayhem ensued for years afterward.
5) Angie and Jesse are reunited at the train station. It was so exciting to me when Angie returned to Pine Valley, and then to find out that Jesse would be too? That was too good to be true! Angie and Jesse (along with Jenny and Greg) were the reason why I got so hooked on AMC back in the day. I had no problem going along with the explanation for why Jesse was gone for 20 years. As a soap fan, you kind of have to accept the unacceptable and just go with it. Most of the time I can do that, and just bask in the joy of having a favorite back. This was one of those times.
6) Bianca gets Miranda back. Keeping with the reunion theme here, after a very long story of the baby switch between Babe and Bianca, at long last Bianca gets her baby. Having been pushed out a window by JR, who was certain the baby was his daughter Bess, Bianca is in a coma in the hospital. Erica believes that Bianca is going to give up fighting for her life because she believed her daughter Miranda was dead and she could be with her in death. But Erica wasn't going to sit back and let that happen. With Jack and Tad's help (and a little divine intervention from Fr. Clarence), Erica got Miranda back, brought her to the hospital and all but demanded Bianca open her eyes and see her baby. And she did!
7) Erica and Brooke's rivalry. Through the years one of the things that always gave me great joy was watching Erica and Brooke spar (with Adam and Palmer's rivalry a close second!). These two fought over everything from business matters to men, but mostly about men. But through it all they had a grudging friendship and uneasy respect for each other.
8) Alec tries to drown Arlene in liquor. The relationship between Alec McIntyre and Arlene Vaughn was one of my favorite twisted relationships ever. Alec was married to Hayley, Arlene's daughter, but that didn't stop him from bedding Arlene, on his wedding night to Hayley no less! But Alec soon realized that sleeping with his mother in law was a bad idea and she could ruin everything for him (namely getting control of Enchantment). Arlene got wise to his plans and wanted in on the action but Alec wasn't about to share so he plotted a way to get rid of her. With Arlene laying in bed, he joined her, letting her believe they were going to make love but then he grabs her around the neck and literally pours liquor down the alcoholic Arlene's throat. I will never forget my jaw hitting the floor while watching that scene! So did Mateo and Hayley's when they walked in on the scene and stopped Alec from killing Arlene. I think he's still in prison for that!
9) Noah and Julia... start to finish! One of my favorite couples of all time. Their love story was epic. After fleeing from the hospital with a several facial laceration, Julia ended up being rescued by Noah. At first the street hood plotted to make money off her by turning her into a prostitute, but he soon realized she was much better than that and so began a journey to true love. I still remember my own outrage when Julia was raped by Louie Grecco and then watching Noah go from worry, to rage, to tender loving care as he bathed Julia after her ordeal. *sigh* They just don't make love stories like that anymore.
10) Liza, Tad and Marian. Seriously one of my all time favorite storylines and it pretty much single-handedly gave Tad the nickname Tad the Cad. Not that he wasn't already a playboy, but this was really taking it to a whole new level. Lonely Marian caught the eye of young Tad while he was working at the Glamorama and the two began an illicit affair. Tad didn't seem to mind bedding mother and daughter, but it was going to blow up in his face, big time, when Liza found out. And it did. But history does repeat itself when, years later, Liza slept with her daughter Colby's boyfriend Damon!
So there you have it. Those are my Top 10. Granted I could have picked a top 50 and still not been done. There are so many more truly wonderful storylines and moments. Hell I didn't even mention many of my all time favorites like Myrtle, Phoebe and Langley (oh did I love Langley's affair with Opal!), Adrian, Simone, and so many more. Or memorable moments like Cliff and Nina's wedding, Ryan and Gillian's wedding, Reese and Bianca's wedding. All the Crystal Ball's. Brooke losing Laura. Erica's breakdown at Mona's funeral. Bianca coming out to Erica. And David David David!!! With so much to cover in 41 years of shows, it's hard to narrow it down! Give it a try, I bet when you think you have your ten, you'll end up crossing some out and adding others in too :)

AMC Finale Article - New York Post
OK, I admit it, I'm posting this link today because I was asked, as an AMC "expert" to contribute to the article! I'm absolutely honored to be a part of it. I wrote quite a bit for the piece, of course, knowing it wouldn't all be used (and they didn't even use my best stuff! lol). But I am very excited to have been included. So enjoy! LINK

REMINDER: The View Pays Tribute to AMC
Just a quick reminder that tomorrow (September 23, 11:00 am EST on ABC) The View devotes the entire hour to paying tribute to AMC. Susan Lucci (Erica) will be the special co-host, with special guests throughout the hour including Agnes Nixon, Vincent Irizarry (David), Rebecca Budig (Greenlee), and Cameron Mathison (Ryan). As well as a special reunion of beloved couple Jenny and Greg, Kim Delaney and Laurence Lau!
Another Michael E. Knight Interview
I guess that is one thing we can thank the cancellation for, we get to hear a lot from Michael! The notoriously interview shy star has been talking up a storm lately. His interview with Michael Fairman is absolutely epic! MEK talks about his offer from Prospect Park and a little about his plans, he talks about his legacy as Tad, and some of my favorite parts of this was where he talked about Susan Lucci (Erica). Michael mirrored a lot of things that I have said myself in regards to Susan.

David Canary Reflects on his Time on AMC
David Canary (Adam/Stuart) gave a lovely interview to my hometown newspaper, The Cleveland Plain Dealer this week where he reflected on his time in Pine Valley and the cancellation. He's just amazing, and has always been a personal fave.
Michael E. Knight Speaks on the End of an Era
Beautiful words by Michael E. Knight (Tad) were published today on The Daily Beast. It's hard to believe there are only 2 more shows but my memories of Tad the Cad will last a lifetime!
