Every week I'm taken aback by how much is going on in Pine Valley and this week is no exception. Click the spoilers link under menu, or just click here. Then fasten your seat belt!!!
As previously reported, AMC will be dedicating the entire show on December 19 in tribute to Eileen Herlie (Myrtle). The PVB has learned that Francesca James (Kelly) will return for the show. In addition to Myrtle being Kelly's surrogate mother on AMC, the two shared a very close relationship off screen until Eileen's passing on October 8.
We will also be treated to another visit from Ghost Aggie (Agnes Nixon) on this show, as well as an array of carnival workers!
It's looking better and better that a return is coming from Erica's unaborted son, Josh (Colin Egglesfield). Although it's not clear if this will just be a visit or a longer term return to Pine Valley, we should be seeing Josh sometime December. Maybe he sneaks into Pine Valley to see his gravely ill sister Kendall?
According to an article in Advertising Age magazine, AMC stars have all taken a hit to their salaries because of the failing automotive industry! What's the connection? Advertising dollars of course. With more and more local car dealers pulling their ads from television, in particular during soaps, the shows lose more and more money, causing these pay cuts. It's happening across the board at AMC and all the other soaps as well. The biggest stars at AMC are accepting these cuts, and that's good news to AMC viewers. In the wake of more and more budget cuts to soaps, Days of Our Lives let go of two of their top stars (Diedre Hall and Drake Hogestyn). Can you imagine AMC without Susan Lucci (Erica) or David Canary (Adam/Stuart) or Michael E. Knight (Tad)? I don't want to imagine it so I'm happy that our AMC stars are sticking with the show and the genre as a whole. LONG LIVE SOAPS!!!!
I hope you enjoy this instant classic. Greenlee goes off on Kendall on Thanksgiving Day. Oh I remember it like it was yesterday. Who's side were you on? While I love both Greenlee and Kendall, but I'm on Kendall's side on this one.
Just a reminder that AMC will be showing a repeat of the tornado episode that aired on October 17, on Thanksgiving Day and will be pre-empted on Friday, November 28.
But you'd never know it by the spoilers this week! There is so much action going on it reads like a full week (or two!) of shows! Don't miss a minute!
It was 10 years ago today that the Pine Valley Bulletin was launched. Having worked on another site for several years, I was ready to branch out on my own. I planned the launch to coincide with my big story and first hand account from Super Soap Weekend that year. I'll never forget, the front page showed Marcy Walker's (ex-Liza) birthday (November 26) and featured that very special SSW story.
This past year brought about a lot of changes. I went from a one woman show for nine years, to taking on a partner. Thanks to Pasha for his tireless work on the biography information on the PVB. We also went to the blog format which has been absolutely wonderful. I get a lot of emails asking why I don't do comings and goings anymore and the answer to that is, I do!!! They are on the blog, in real time, as they happen. If you're unsure how blogs work, check out this link for a little tutorial.
Through it all, there is one thing that hasn't changed. My love for AMC. Oh I may get mad at it now and again. I may want to throw things at my TV screen from time to time. But what brings us all back together is our love for this show. AMC and the PVB is a family, and I couldn't have made it this long without all the love, support and care of that family. So thank you, from the bottom of my heart to all of you for always coming back to the PVB. Here's to another 10 years!
Josh celebrates his 36th birthday today! He's currently working on the sequel to the 2007 megahit, Transformers. The new movie is titled, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and is due out next year.
Passions alum, McKenzie Westmore will be joining the cast of AMC as Dr. Sinclair, Annie's psychiatrist. She begins airing on December 12. Looks like Annie is Oak Haven bound! I wonder if she'll run into Janet from Another Planet while she's there?
Alicia Minshew (Kendall), along Grant Aleksander (ex-Alec) and Elizabeth Hubbard (ATWT) will be guest staring on the new ABC hit drama Life on Mars, Thursday night, November 13 at 10 pm EST. The three soap stars play, you guessed it, soap stars. This could turn into a recurring role for the soapsters!
This weeks spoilers are now up!!! Oh my Annie, what a tangled web we weave. Wednesday, November 12 will feature the ghost of Aggie (played by AMC creator Agnes Nixon), one of the first settlers to Pine Valley. The show will commemorate AMC's 10,000th episode and will be dedicated to the late Eileen Herlie (Myrtle).
So many of you have asked and now it's been confirmed. AMC will dedicate the December 19 show to the late Eileen Herlie (Myrtle) who passed away on October 8 from complications of pneumonia.
On December 18, Erica will phone Zach with the news of Myrtle's passing. Then on December 19, those closest to her, Erica, Zach, Bianca and Opal, will all receive gifts from Myrtle and look back at their time with her in flashbacks as the town gathers for a memorial service at Zach's newly rebuilt casino. Zach names a room at the casino in her honor, the "Fargate Carnival Room." Oh my, I'm crying already!
Tomorrow, November 7, JR Martinez will make his AMC debut as Taylor's presumed dead fiancee, Brot Monroe. The story background is that Taylor believed Brot was killed in Iraq and he chose to let her continue believing it because of the extent of his injuries.
Martinez, a real life Iraq War veteran, was injured in Iraq in 2003 when the vehicle he was driving hit a landmine. He sustained severe burns to 40 percent of his body, spending 34 months in the hospital and undergoing 32 surgeries. He is now a national spokesman for the Coalition of Salute American's Heroes.
On today's show, AMC will feature other real life Iraq War veterans telling their own unscripted stories. It reminds me of the way AMC featured real life transgenders telling their stories, unscripted, to Zoe (Jeffrey Carlson).
Even though she did a fine Paso, the group Cha Cha Cha could well have marked the end of Susan's run on Dancing with the Stars. Not having enough time to practice with her group because of being in New York really showed in a sloppy, out of sync performance by Group Cha Cha Cha. But the ever gracious Lucci bid farewell to her competitors in that special way has earned her the millions of fans she has. Thanks Susan, it was fun while it lasted!!
