CASTING NEWS: Are You Freakin Kidding me!?

Soap Opera Digest magazine is reporting that Vincent Irizarry is out as David!!  In a move the writers called "storyline dictated" (read: we can't think of another excuse), David meets his maker at Palmer's party.   Can this even really be?   Writers David Kreizman and Donna Swajeski defend their decision to dump one of the most popular actors and characters on the show, for the very same reason I speculated that he needed to stay... his hand is in too many pots.  So if it's really true, and David isn't faking his death, who becomes the antagonist of the show?  JR?   Please.  Junior cannot compete with the likes of David or his own father Adam for that matter.   I hope this is all a bad dream, and that David is doing what David does... playing everyone in town!  Otherwise Mr. Kreizman and Ms. Swajeski, you are not making fans, you are losing them.

  1. AMEN!!!!

Seriously, if Vincent is truly OUT, I will stop watching. I've been watching AMC since day one and have stuck through it thick and thin and even with the new writers these storylines have not held my interest, I didn't even shed a tear for Angie, and I don't care for the new Bianca, have very little interest in Kendall or Colby.

I find Caleb refreshing and I just love the evil Dr. Hayward . . . so if he's truly out, so am I.

  2. I'm with Marsha if Vincent is really gone. I will hang up AMC for good.

to think I would have to watch the same banal storylines again and again without a truly good actor and character like David?

Why would I? This could be the choice that leads this show to cancellation

  3. Well, I've already quit watching ever since it became clear that Rylee 37.0 was going to happen, but this is a truly an awful decision. Vincent is the best actor on the show, and he makes David villainous and sympathetic in spades.

I've always enjoyed watching Vincent's David, because he plays him as a misguided man who is capable of love, but just goes about it the wrong way.

Storyline-dictated is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. They should have lied and said Vincent wants to move back to NY.

  4. Vincent does live on the east coast, so if it's his decision to leave, then fine, the writers need to say so. As much as I want to slap David Hayward in the face, I can't see another actor play him, he's too major. It would be like having another actress play Erica Kane. It just wouldn't work. I could see having Vincent go on hiatus for a while, having David fake his death for a while, but Vincent has to come back as David.

  5. So far, Soap Opera Digest hasn't reported it on their web site. I'm wondering if it's a publicity stunt just to get the viewers riled up. If so, it seems to be working.....

  6. What? This is the worst of many bad decisions that have been made at AMC of late. Storyline dictated? That is completely avoidable! They create the storylines! David didn't paint HIMSELF into a corner. If it's Vincent's wish, that's one thing. But the reason given is spurious. I'm hoping it's just a stunt to create interest in a fake death on David's part. As it is, no one has the weight to fill the villian's shoes. If they keep this up, it WILL mean the end

  7. I agree with everyone. David's character is one we "love to hate." And Vincent has made David "his." J.R. doesn't have what it takes to be a real villian and no other male should be forced into that position, especially Tad or Jake. My, oh, my. I keep waiting for writers to write something compelling and instead they just continue to "suck." (Sorry for the slang.)

  8. I'm sure it was Vincent's decision to leave the show. Vincent was on "The View" with Michael Knight late last summer. He spoke about how hard it was to be away from his family, and that he would make a decision to relocate by this summer. He also "Tweeted" two weeks ago that he had booked a guest-starring role on NCIS. So maybe he's leaving for Prime Time Television.

  9. I"m holding out hope that it's a stunt, but after being dedicated to my beloved AMC through thick and thin, I really can't take much more. If it's a stunt, then it needs to be revealed as such, SOON, otherwise the show will lose to many viewers. I can't believe ABC would put so much hype in the the "rebirth" of AMC, when we have been given nothing but dismal stories, crappy characters nobody cares about, and the lose of too many important characters!

  10. People People People..Think about it.. It's a great story line. I do believe Vincent did not want to commute and so they had to make Hayward "disappear". What better way than to make Ryan Lavery have to pay for David's "death". Figure it out..he helps Liza, Liza becomes DA, Colby sees the fight between David and Ryan, and now David is dead. Liza's first job as DA.. prosecute Ryan Lavery. If they wanted to make it realistic, then the trial would take at least a year to come to court. In the mean time, we could see David on a boat somewhere smiling at Pine Valley and yelling.. "SUCKERS". What a way for him to go!!! This way the door is left open if Vincent ever wants to come back and we get to see Ryan suffer!!!

  11. The way they set it up today, it definitely seemed like David had it planned out and he is faking his death. I'm guessing he'll be gone from the show for a while and then be back. I mean, they're all back after a while, aren't they?

If only having Ryan locked up and awaiting trial meant less screen time for him. I fear it will mean more. Boo.

  12. Funny, it always seemed that the fans were in love with Ryan. He's annoyed me since he chose Greenlee over Kendall.

As horrible as David was, he did really seem to love his wife. He put himself out there to keep her alive/safe. When she started to moon over Ryan again, it meant less and less time for me to watch each episode.

I already have said I thought this was going to be one of the "he isn't really dead" stories, but from what SOAP OPERA DIGEST says (I got the magazine in yesterday's mail), it seems all too real. Hey, the made him pay before, by being the hospital janitor. I don't see why they couldn't have done it again.

Okay, unless I can't remember anything, didn't David pay the mechanic to tinker with the plane to POSTPONE Erica leaving Pigeon Hollow? (they have an airport??) For the longest time, it's been "he tried to kill Erica." Hey, both are very wrong, but they are different.

Methinks maybe TPTB haven't found the right writing team yet..

  13. I agree with the other fans of All My Children. If Vincent is OUT so am I. I will stop watching the show. He is the best actor on the show. How can the writers of All My Children let a popular character go without a fight. This is a bad decision. Don't you think about your ratings.

  14. I think it's a great storyline. Lots of drama. Maybe a battle between Madison (who thinks this is all Greenlee's fault) and Greenlee. I don't think he's really dead, but we won't see him for a Loooooooong while. Besides David was gone from PineValley for several years and plenty of us kept watching. He honestly annoys me but again....he'll be back. I still think his Angie drama isn't done...didn't he say he sent info about her charges off?

  15. hello nail. meet coffin.

i cannot fault vincent if he wants to spend more time with his family and less commuting, nor if he wants to pursue other jobs. but the writers can't blame him for the writing or the storylines.

i've yet to find a new storyline that interests me. i'm grateful for caleb's story - it's the only thing i don't FF through when i watch the show. these new writers do not impress me.
