Kate Collins Addresses Cancellation/Continuation

In a new interview with Kate Collins (Janet), Time Out Chicago asked her about her recent return, AMC's cancellation on ABC and the possibility of she would return if it does make it to the internet next year.  Go Kate!

CASTING NEWS: Fasten Your Seatbelts!!!

The nutjob parade is coming to Pine Valley!   TV GUIDE reports that beginning the week of July 25, Melissa Claire Egan (Annie), Kate Collins (Janet) and Jennifer Bassey (Marian) will be making their return to All My Children.  The storyline has the three women who are being held at Oak Haven (along with Dixie who is being hidden) plotting to break out and head back to the people they love.  Sound amazing to me and that makes two more of on my wish list of returns coming back!   Woo hoo!!

AMC's Janet from Another Planet, Kate Collins, celebrates her 53nd birthday today!!!  I wonder how she likes  having Annie as a roomie.

CASTING NEWS: So Long Janet, Come Back Soon!

This week marks the end of Kate Collins' short return as Amanda's crazy as a soup sandwich mother, Janet. She's shipped back to Oak Haven on Wednesday, May 19. But not before giving Amanda a case of the raging paranoia's!

CASTING NEWS: Kate Collins Returns to AMC!!!

She IS returning!!! As previously speculated, Kate Collins will be making her AMC return on April 30! While institutionalized, Janet took computer courses and was able to keep tabs on her daughter Amanda. According to TV Guide Magazine, Janet will bust out of the asylum, deciding that she needs to manage Amanda's new career and plans to whisk her and baby Trevor to Europe! But what of Jake? Well he's definitely going to be a problem. And we all know how Janet handles problems! Watch your back Jake!

Is Janet Returning??

Nobody's saying specifically but signs seem to be pointing that way! Let's break it down shall we? First of all, we have Amandafan, watching and being all freaky stalkery towards Amanda. Then we have some very well placed yet cryptic comments. First from Chrishell Stause's Twitter where she says, "You guys are def gonna like were Amanda's story is headed. Ask and you shall receive! That's all I'm gonna say!" I know I've asked for Janet's return!!! And then we have MSN.com's AMC page which states: "One of the most frustrating things about being in this biz is hearing scoop you can't share! I learned someone very exciting is coming back to "All My Children," but can't even give you a hint. Ack!" Hmmm....curiouser and curiouser! What do you think? Is it time for Janet from Another Planet to come back? My fingers are crossed!

The Fox and the Hound: They Were the Best of Friends

Natalie Marlowe (Kate Collins, l.) and Donna Beck (Candice Early, r.) were more similar than anyone thought. Both survived, as Donna put it in 1995, "the Palmer Cortlandt experience." Both were single mothers. Their similar circumstances lead to something very rare between women in Pine Valley, a friendship.

When Natalie was down and out after accusing son-in-law Ross Chandler of raping her, she became the pariah of Pine Valley. Donna stood by her, remembering how only a decade earlier she was made to be an outsider because of Phoebe Tyler's disapproval of her unfortunate life circumstances (Donna was a prostitute and in love with her grandson. Who can blame Phoebe for "overreacting?").

Natalie and Donna's friendship looked like it was going to last the test of time. Even after moving from Pine Valley in 1992, Donna would return to act as maid of honour for Natalie's impromptu wedding to her one true love, Trevor Dillon.

In 1993, Donna would return to town one more time... for Natalie's funeral.

The Recast That Didn't Work

Well one of them anyway. Popular Kate Collins (left) left the show as Natalie Dillon in 1992 and was recast with Melody Anderson (right). During Melody's time on AMC, Natalie was struck blind during an arson fire set by a vengeful Carter Jones. But when Christmas rolled around, the Dillon tradition of making a wish on the Angel at the top of the tree brought about Natalie's vision. It soon became very clear that the recast wasn't going to be working out in the long run. Natalie's fate was set when, after learning her accountant Laurel Banning, was embezzling money from her organization the Mason Foundation. She went to Adam for help and on their way to confront Laurel, they were in a car accident. Natalie's injuries were too severe so Trevor made the difficult decision to have her taken off life support. Melody Anderson last aired as Natalie in 1993. Kate Collins did return, beginning in 1997 and continuing on through the years as first Natalie's ghost and then Natalie's sister, Janet Green. Kate played the dual role of Natalie and Janet for awhile during her run, then Janet was recast with Robin Mattson (IMO, one of the recasts that worked very well!). Maybe I'm alone in this but I would love to see Amanda go visit her mother, Janet from Another Planet, while she's in a family way, carrying none other than Dr. Evil's child! Janet would stop at nothing to get out of wherever she is (where is she anyway? Annie didn't run into her at Oak Haven, so maybe she's in that prison for the criminally insane where Daddy Cambias is?) and teach David that you don't mess with her Amanda! Oh yes. Where is that storyline? Ahh well, instead we'll just have to wish Kate Collins a very happy 51st birthday.
