It's A Pine Valley High Reunion!!

Next week Carol Burnett returns as Verla Grubbs!  And she's in town for the Pine Valley High School Reunion.   According to TV Guide, Verla comes to town to snag her old flame, Sam Brady (Jason Kincaid will be reprising his former roll!) does her best to keep him away from Opal!  Sounds like fun!  Interesting side note, AMC's Casting Director Judy Blye Wilson put out an urgent request to locate Jason Kincaid for this storyline.  It was Bill Timoney (ex-Alfred) who was able to track him down and get him touch with AMC.

CASTING NEWS: Justin and Alexa Return!!

This is turning into a real party!   Justin Bruening (Jamie) and Alexa Havins (ex-Babe) will be returning to AMC in September for a few shows before the show signs off on ABC.  Jamie's return is easy enough, he's been in Africa working with Doctors Without Borders.  Babe, that's a little trickier.  Babe died several years ago when a tornado hit Pine Valley (then played by Amanda Baker).  Another ghost?  Another "victim" of the Orpheus Project?  Just how many people has Dr. David Haywardstein risen from the dead??  Alexa currently stars in the Starz incarnation of Torchwood and Justin stars in the Wonder Woman pilot that is looking for a home.  The couple has been married since 2005 and have one child, a daughter Lexington.

CASTING NEWS: I've Been Waiting For This!

After Lorraine Broderick hinted in last weeks SOD that more surprise appearances were in store, I held my breath and waited.  Well I just exhaled!!!   SOD Online reports that Ray MacDonnell (Joe), Lee Meriweather (Ruth), David Canary (Adam) and Julia Barr (Brooke) will all be returning before AMC leaves the ABC airwaves on September 23!!!  (Actual airdates are not yet available).

Are the Big Returns in the Works?

It looks like they are!   With Cady McClain's (Dixie) return already confirmed, fans are wondering who else AMC plans to bring back before their swan song in September.  Although there is no official word yet, Thorsten Kaye (Zach) revealed on his official website yesterday that he is bringing Zach back to Pine Valley, alive and in the flesh this summer.

And what about David Canary (Adam) and Julia Barr (Brooke)?  With Agnes Nixon and Lorraine Broderick back in the drivers seat at AMC, it seems there is a good chance we will see these two AMC icons before the end.  Storyline penned by Broderick and overseen by Nixon begins airing on May 27.

The Latest... Possible Returns, Possible Save?

As fans protest, loudly, that we want our soaps, is anyone listening?  Hoover is.  Oprah isn't.  But what about Sony?  Deadline.com is reporting that Sony is looking to snag some actors from both AMC and OLTL after the cancellations for their soaps Days of Our Lives and Young and the Restless, naming Debbi Morgan (Angie) and Jacob Young (JR) as two that Sony is interested in.  Now others are reporting that Sony wants to buy AMC and OLTL and then place them on NBC.  Unfortunately I can neither confirm nor deny because with all the rumors, half truths, outright lies and every little thing being reported somewhere, it's hard to keep up and hard to know what stories have any basis in reality.  Actors are being hushed (it's likely the Trent Garrett "imposter" wasn't one, but he instead spoke out of turn and was silenced.  Just as Chrishell Stause was silenced after she tweeted about leaving anyway but wanting the show to stay on the air).  For more information on the protest and when the next one is, visit the Protest Across America website.

So as the show gears up for it's final few months on the air, it's looking more and more like it might actually get a good and proper send off.   Bringing in Lorraine Broderick as head writer was certainly a step in the right direction.  Her works is set to begin airing on June 27.  And word has it that Agnes Nixon is working with Broderick on storyline for the finale, which pretty much guarantees it will be done right.  Already some returns are in the works.  Cady McClain (Dixie) is in talks with the show to return before the ending in September.  Whether Dixie is alive or dead has not be specified.

Thorsten Kaye (Zach) has expressed interest in returning and finishing up the story right.  Thorsten reported told SOD's Carolyn Hinsey, "I am very open to going back and finishing this up the right way.  I would like to be there when the fat lady sings. I wasn't aware the fat lady was warming up, and frankly I think it's too soon for her to be singing, but here we are."

If the show has to end, my wish list for returns (other than Zach) is Brooke and Adam and Joe and Ruth.
