Help Stephanie Gatschet Fight Lung Cancer!

Stephanie Gatschet (Madison) has a cause that is near and dear to her heart, and incidentally to mine too.  When her mother was diagnosed with lung cancer 5 years ago, she began supporting the National Lung Cancer Partnership in an effort to educate people about the disease and raise money.  Says Stephanie: "The stigma of lung cancer being a smoker's disease really stands in the way of getting the proper funding and awareness," she points out. "And it's so unfortunate, not only because it doesn't really matter if a person smoked or not -- no one deserves to get cancer -- but more than half of the people diagnosed with lung cancer now are non-smokers! Everyone should know about that, and the more we can remove the lung cancer conversation from the smoking relation, the more progress we'll make in curing it."  And this is so true.  One of my very dear friends was diagnosed with lung cancer back in July and she never smoked a day in her life.  I can't thank Stephanie enough for her part in raising awareness of this disease and on March 20 she is organizing a fundraiser, the Free To Breathe fundraising yogathon at Descanso Gardens in La Canada Flintridge, CA, which is actually where many of AMC's location shots are filmed.  Cameron Mathison (Ryan), Christina Bennett Lind (Bianca), Denise Vasi (Randi) and Jordi Vilasuso (Griffin) will all be taking part in the fundraiser with Stephanie and you can too!  Sign up or donate at FreeToBreathe.org.

Happy Birthday Eden Riegel!!!

AMC Stars Interview

I just caught this video online and thought it was so cute, I had to share! Ricky Paull Goldin (Jake) was by far my fave. He's so funny and so natural and ahh I just love him!!! Cameron Mathison (Ryan) and Rebecca Budig (Greenlee) are interviewed with Christina. Click here for the video, and be patient, it takes a little time to load.

CASTING NEWS: AMC Hires a New Bianca!!!

Well that didn't take long! AMC has cast Christina Bennett Lind as NuBianca. The soap newbie is a New York based theatre actress who has had a few walk on's at ATWT, but this is her first full time soap gig and her first time on AMC, after having auditioned three other times! She begins airing on June 14 when Bianca returns to Pine Valley frantic about her mother's disappearance (which is tied into the casting of Michael Nouri). Of landing the role, Christina told TV Guide, "I can only hope I do half of what Eden did with the part. She played it with amazing grace and dignity. Now I need to breathe my own life into it."

When Bianca returns, for now, it will be without Reese or the children, but AMC plans to keep the Bianca and Reese relationship going and have kept communications with Tamara Braun open.

Pratt Falls Weighs in on Eden's New Gig!

Well you just knew they would have weigh in didn't you? LOL Portia and Ellen are ready to take on Y&R if need be of course lol!!

CASTING NEWS: Bianca Will Be Recast!!!

Only one day after the news that Eden Riegel (ex-Bianca) has been cast on Y&R, AMC reveals plans to recast the beloved character. Those are some big shoes to fill, but they do indeed need to be filled. Bianca is a much needed character. In a TV Guide interview released today, Eden states that she was in talks with AMC as recently as six weeks ago, but things just couldn't get ironed out for her to return. In this case, I believe the blame belongs solely on the shoulders of one person. Not Eden, not TPTB at ABC. But Mr. Charles Pratt, Jr. When you destroy a character, making that character unrecognizable not only to the fans but to the actress who portrays her, then, blames your own debacle on said actress, what more can you expect than for that actress to move on. Thank you Mr. Pratt. You are not even employed at AMC anymore and you are still f***ing up my show!

Eden Riegel Joins Y & R!!!

AMC loss is Y&R's gain, again! Eden Riegel will be joining the cast of Y&R. Eden takes over the role of ADA Heather Stevens from departing Vail Bloom. Joining Y&R will reunite Eden with Elizabeth Hendrickson (ex-Maggie) where she has played Chloe since 2008! No word on a first airdate but check back for updates. And on a personal note, AMC what are you thinking!????

Happy Birthday Eden Riegel!!!!

Very happy birthday wishes go out today to New Year's baby Eden Riegel!!!! She celebrates her 29th birthday today!!! We'll see Eden next week on the AMC 40th Anniversary shows, airing January 4 and 5!!!

When a Rose is Not a Rose

Opal's sense of style has always been, well, questionable. One of my favourite looks was Opal's cornucopia hat from Thanksgiving 2001:

Pictured (L to R): Cady McClain (ex-Dixie), Jill Larson (Opal), Eden Riegel (ex-Bianca) and Julia Barr (ex-Brooke)

In honour of Jill Larson's 20th Anniversary as Opal Sue Gardner Purdy Cortlandt, share your favourite Opal memory below.

Trivia: This episode also marked the premier of Jonathan Bennett as an all grown-up JR Chandler, who would "loose his virginity" to con-man Frankie Stone (played by Bennett's then real life girlfriend Elizabeth Hendrickson)
