Final Tape Day At AMC
The final hours are winding down. AMC ends taping for ABC today and I've been watching the posts go by on Facebook and Twitter.
From Ricky Paull Goldin (Jake): Hi live from the last day on the set of ALL MY CHILDREN!! Crazy emotional!!
Denise Vasi (Randi): Bittersweet feelings as I start my last day in Pine Valley! Big girls don't cry... or @ least they try not to ☺
Stephanie Gatschet (Madison): "The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance." ~Alan Watts
Christina Bennett Lind (Bianca): taking it minute by minute today, but feeling grateful and truly proud.
Cameron Mathison (Ryan): Thank you all for the well wishes on this last day of taping All My Children . Let's hope we are all back together again in a few months! xxoo
Vincent Irizarry (David) posted last night: In the morn I'll go to work on AMC for the last time under ABC. It's been a wonderful, even seemingly magical ride all these years. As with all my fellow AMC actors,I don't yet know where we're going, but I certainly know where I've been. What a privilege to have traveled this journey with many of you throughout these years, and equally so to have played such a rewarding character as Dr. David Hayward. The depth of my gratitude is beyond measure, therefore, I thank you all ad infinitum. Keep the faith :)
And just posted from Soap Opera Digest online: Today marks the final day of taping for the cast and crew of ALL MY CHILDREN under the auspices of ABC. "It's not doom and gloom around here," Executive Producer Julie Hanan Carruthers told Digest recently. "People are not walking the death march. I'm sure you know, August 30, when everybody walks out of here, we're going to go, 'Whoa, what happened?' But right now, nobody sees cancellation in their future [laughs]." There will be at least one honored guest present to bear witness to history; reports Julia Barr (Brooke), "Alexa Havins [Babe] is bringing the baby [one-year-old Lexington, with husband Justin Bruening, Jamie] in so we can all give her a kiss and a squeeze. It's hard to be sad when there's a baby around!"
For me, it's the end of an era. I feel like I've made my peace with it going off the air and I'm not really sure where the PVB goes from here, after September 23. The site will remain for the history and family trees, the board will go on. But whether or not I follow the show to the internet is yet to be determined. It's hard to imagine letting it all go after 13 years online and 30+ years of watching off an on. But like I said, I have made my peace with it. Whether I can stick to that is a different story. I'd love to hear your thoughts... are you sticking with it through thick and thin? Or have you made your peace with the end as well?
