Congratulations Debbi and Cornelius!!!!

The NAACP Image Awards were handed out last night, at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. Debbi Morgan (Angie) and Cornelius Smith Jr. (Frankie) were nominated in the Outstanding Actress and Outstanding Actor in a Daytime Drama categories, respectively and they both took home the trophies!!! Congrats to both!!!!

I Don't Think That We're in Pine Valley Anymore

Robin Christopher (ex-Skye Chandler-Quartermaine; 1987-91, 2000, 1998-2001 (OLTL), 2001-08 (GH)) is reprising her signature role as the eldest Chandler heir at her last stomping ground, ABC Daytime's General Hospital. She will begin airing at the end of March 2010.

As happy as I am to here that Christopher and Skye will be back on our screens, I am really disappointed to hear that she is not Pine Valley-bound.

Check out this clip of Skye's last visit to Pine Valley. I guess her "family" failed to pass on some very important news.

Being of the "Write" State of Mind

The boys at WeLoveSoaps.Net have posted a very interesting interview with Mr. Judith Barcoft (ex-Anne Tyler), aka Winser Washam. Washam is credited as one of AMC's longest running and successful Headwriters. Nixon's protege, he was responsible for the early 80's success of the program that included the star crossed romance of Cliff and Nina, the young lovers Jenny and Greg, and groundbreaking love story of Jesse and Angie. It truly was love in the afternoon.

Check out Part 2 of the interview HERE. Oh yeah, and take note of what caused Washam to leave the show. It is quiet the doozey.

Rediscover AMC

SOAPNet and ABC's publicity department deserve major kudos for their new "Rediscover All My Children Campaign."

Who knew that tying current storylines to characters' histories could be so enticing.

I am happy to see that the network realizes that keeping viewers is just as important and getting viewers. Let's keep on this trend (Oh yeah, Julie, keep Broderick too).

Aiden Turner to Dancing with the Stars!????

The new Dancing with the Stars cast list is being released on Monday but some hints have us wondering if perhaps AMC's Aiden Turner (ex-Aidan) will be putting on his dancing shoes this season! There's been chatter that an AMC star may be included this season and Aiden recently revealed via his Facebook fan page that he will be joining a primetime show with details to be revealed very soon. Hmmm.. We'll find out on Monday!

Gone But Not Forgotten: Elizabeth Lawrence (1922-2000)

There will be one startling omission from Palmer Cortlandt's upcoming funeral. When "the good guy who made good" Pete Cooney made his premier in Pine Valley, there was a dark figure by his side: mysterious house-maid, Myra Murdoch.

Residents of the gothic Cortlandt Estate were valid to think that something was awry. Myra was not just the help; she was Palmer's mother-in-law. She posed as a house servant to keep an eye on her granddaughter, Nina, after Palmer disavowed the existence of her mother, Myra's daughter Daisy Murdoch. Myra was the closest thing to conscious for the Electronics Executive.

The role of Myra was played by Elizabeth Lawrence from 1979-1991. Lawrence passed on in 2000. Since Lawrence was no longer on the canvas, Myra's fate was never addressed onscreen.

Check out this classic Palmer/Myra moment (time 2:10):

RIP Ms. Lawrence. Good help is always so hard to find.

Wishful Casting: You Never Forget the Original

With news that Taylor Miller will reprise her role of Nina Warner for Palmer's upcoming funeral, I know that there is only one other cast member who could make this tribute picture perfect.

C'mon Julie, do I have to spell this out for you.

What a Difference a Decade Makes

I know that David Hayward (Vincent Irizarry) and Erica Kane (Susan Lucci) did not end on great terms (So what if he drugged her knowing that she was a recovering addict? He ended up drugging the rest of the town a week later), but isn't funny how the one time super-couple went from this:

to this:

What a difference a decade makes.

Picture Perfect: Autumn Wedding, Just in Time for Sweeps

I'm not sure which part of this picture is more absurd, Dixie's haircut or Hayley's shoes. Do you remember all the ladies in Dixie's second wedding party?

Sing us a Song, You're the Piano (Wo)Man.

Some of my favourite moments from All My Children's past was when a storyline called for Donna Beck Tyler etc. etc. etc. (Candice Early, l.) to serenade the crowd. Early's voice could only be described in one word, "amazing."

In the early '90s, producers hired model/singer Liz Vassey as Donna's naive daughter Emily Ann Sago. Emily and Donna got the chance to break out in song frequently. Though not the best quality, here is the mother/daughter pair performing at Tad and Dixie Martin's first wedding:

How sweet would it be to see Donna back on canvas for Palmer Cortlandt's upcoming funeral (she was after all Mrs. Cortlandt #2)?

Also, Vassey has sure come a long way from her time in Pine Valley. She is now a regular on CBS Primetime hit CSI.

Congratulations Agatha Christie Night Winner!!!

Linda Braudy is the winner of the Soap Fan Mystery Theatre event tickets donated by Soapdom.com. Each participant was asked to respond to the following question: In 25 words or less please state what All My Children's move to LA means to you? Here is Linda's response:

"It’s a two-edged sword – happy for HD, new sets and stories, sad to lose cast favorites and children; exciting to be only 400 miles away."

Congratulations to Linda!

Flashback: Palmer & Adam 1996

Have these two ever had anything to smile about?
(Pictured (l to r): David Canary (Adam) & James Mitchell (Palmer))

Chandler Mansion's Main Maiden

The relationship between Adam Chandler (David Canary) and Mrs. #3 Brooke English (Julia Barr) has always been a fan favourite. What started out as a business arrangement (she wanted to be EIC of Tempo, he wanted to keep Mrs. #2 Erica out of the top seat), blossomed into what was Adam's first marriage of equals.

When the marriage hit the rocks, Brooke showed just how much of an equal she was. With a "little" help from new kid on the block Jackson Montgomery (Walt Willey), Brooke took half of Adam's
fortune. I guess Ivana Trump was right, "Don't get mad, get even."

Enjoy a few of these snapshots of the once happy couple.

What is your favourite Brooke and Adam memory?

More Details Surface on Canary Exit!!

As previously reported, David Canary (Adam) will be making his AMC exit this spring. Now more details are coming to light as TV Guide interviews Executive Producer Julie Hanan Carruthers on the subject. With the loss of James Mitchell (Palmer), Adam's greatest rival in Pine Valley, as a catalyst to Adam's departure from Pine Valley, Carruthers had this to say: “Everyone in Pine Valley will be greatly affected by the loss of Palmer, especially Adam. It will force him to face his own mortality, something that’s very rare for such a Type A personality.” For more, check out Michael Logan's interview with Ms. Carruthers.

Ricky Paull Goldin Moonlighting with New Series!!!

Ricky Paull Goldin (Jake) has been tweeting his excitement about a new series he's been working for TLC, a paranormal project. Details are sketchy but he's wrapped production and his enthusiasm is certainly contagious! Can't wait to see it. His father was world famous hypnotist, Dr. Paul Goldin. He passed way in Feb. 2008. The PVB will post more details as they come available.

COMMENTARY: The Pratt Aftermath

He's gone. Finally, mercifully gone. His name is no longer in the credits. May we never speak of him again. Amen.

Now... on to better things. Brooke returns today. TODAY! It's not a long term return, but it's a return nonetheless. It's a sign to me that if one return is possible then there can be more. Julia Barr has been sorely missed. Her easy chemistry with David Canary (Adam) and Michael E. Knight (Tad). Her pillar of the community strength. Her sparring with Erica (Susan Lucci). I can't decide what I'm looking forward to most about her return. All those things I mentioned are going to be fun to watch, but maybe the most fun will watching Annie squirm when she sees how much Adam has missed having Brooke around.

While I'm talking about Annie, I can't help but wonder what the dang deal is with Scott. He keeps defending Annie to anyone who doubts her, proclaiming how in love with his Uncle Adam she is. But then, whenever the mood strikes, they are kissing each other like there is no tomorrow. That in and of itself shows how little she really loves Adam. And when Colby messes with her, trying to get her to act crazy (which she inevitably does every time), Scott is there yet again to swoop in and save the day. He finds new ways to defend and justify her strange behavior blaming Colby for pushing Annie but never blaming Annie for actually taking the bait and acting like the nutball so many know she still is. Basically what I'm saying here is, if Scott loves his Uncle as much as he claims to, wouldn't he try to protect him? From where I'm sitting, he's throwing Adam to the wolves by defending someone who is clearly unstable. Colby was right. After Scott taunted her by saying why didn't she leave a loaded gun in every room (to mess with Annie), Colby said, "You're making my point for me Scott. If that woman's unstable enough to be dangerous around guns, she doesn't belong in this house." Scott covered his idiocy by saying that it was Colby who was making her unstable. Seriously Scott? Chick's been in Oak Haven, which in and of itself doesn't make her crazy but she is in fact crazy! For old times sake, Scott gets this weeks I NEED TO BE SLAPPED award for being so wishy washy!

So why is it never Annie's fault? Richie made her crazy. Greenlee made her crazy. Ryan made her crazy. Dr. Sinclair made her crazy. Now Colby's making her crazy Bottom line, Annie made Annie crazy. She's joined the ranks of Janet from Another Planet and Loony Leslie. She needs a nickname! Unhinged Annie? Erratic Annie? How about
Apeshit Annie? Yeah... I like it! Apeshit Annie it is!

Let's talk Damon. Now, as far as I know I'm not giving anything away here, it's purely speculation that I've heard being talked about on my board. Some think that Damon will turn out to be Max Santos. It's certainly possible. When Hayley was in town to shoot the Pine Valley documentary, she did tell Adam that she and Mateo were having problems with Max, that he was getting into a lot of trouble. He certainly could have changed his name and run off, knocking up his girlfriend and committing crimes along the way. Seriously can you blame the kid? If I had to live with the Digit of Death, I'd act out too! The only thing I can say about this is that the show has kept Finn Wittrock and put him on contract for a reason. I have yet to discover that reason, whether he is Max or not.

So what do you think, are David and Greenlee a match made in heaven, hell or a little of both? Yeah, a little of both I think. Personally I've always liked the chemistry between David and Greenlee. Not necessarily as a couple, but as whatever they were before. It isn't beyond the realm of possibility that David could fall in love with Greenlee. The man craves love. But he certainly goes about getting it in all the wrong ways.

Who could ever forget the way he blackmailed Gillian into his bed? (In case you did forget, Gillian needed money to bail Ryan out of prison on a rape charge. He was accused of raping Kit Fisher, Jack's sister, but it ended up being his brother Braden). And later, still resorting to trickery, he blackmailed Amanda into his bed. David, David, David. Wait let's not forget how he manipulated Dixie into his bed. And how he drugged Krystal into his bed. Oh my! David! When it's all out there it's pretty skeevy. He also drugged the whole town. He blackmailed Allie but I can't remember if he blackmailed her into bed or not. I don't think he did.

Wow. And through it all, I just can't help but love the guy! There is something so fun and dangerous about David. His snarky comebacks when he's around Tad or Jake. The way he calls JR, Junior in that condescending David way. Poor David, he's just a misunderstood madman! Can Greenlee be his match? His manipulative equal? I don't know but the possibilities intrigue me.

Don't expect Ryan to just give up though. With Greenlee's admission that she still loves him, Ryan isn't going to bow out and let David win his lady love. Sure he said he'd back off, but will he really, especially if they really do end up married!? My guess is no.

All in all, in the "you know who" aftermath of things, I'd give AMC a B-. It's moving up, it's improving more and more, and I even occasionally watch in real time now because I'm excited to see the show again. What do you think?

How is AMC now?

Happy Birthday Thorsten Kaye!!!!

Happiest of birthday wishes go out to Thorsten Kaye! He celebrates his 44th birthday today!!

Three Shows and Gone - Fox Pullls Past Life!

Maybe I'm naive or something, but airing only three shows and being pulled seems a little premature. How do you build a following when you are pulled after such a short amount of time? Regardless of what I think, Fox has pulled the new series starring Kelli Giddish (ex-Di), Past Life, from their line up. The time slot will be replaced with original episodes of Kitchen Nightmares until March 18, then will be replaced with repeats of Bones and Fringe. Original episodes of those shows return on April 1. Fox claims that they will show the unaired episodes of Past Life at some point but that could be online or it could mean never and the show will fade into oblivion kind of like some other network shows that didn't make it... Reunion, Smith, My Own Worst Enemy to name a few that come to mind.

An English Homecoming

With Julia Barr making her triumphant return as Brooke English this week, the History Project would like to feature a clip from what is considered by many the performance of Julia Barr's career thus far:

LOL Line of the Day!

While I felt Tad's line to Jake as they searched for the tape David was holding over Angie's head was pretty hilarious ("Well we didn't find the coffin he sleeps, maybe it's in it."). It was David's pot calling the kettle black moment that really made me laugh out loud! As Erica is questioning a tied up David, wondering if he remembers how he got there, he realizes that Jake drugged him. He says, "Those Martin clowns aren't going to be laughing once I press charges." OMG David! As many people as he's drugged he has the audacity to even think of pressing charges against someone who drugged him? Priceless!

Happy Birthday Michael Nader!!!

Happy Birthday wishes go out to Michael Nader (ex-Dimitri). He celebrates his 65th birthday today!

This week from the Soap Blog Coalition!!!

Not even Ryan and his lone facial expression could detract from how awesome Greenlee and David's almost wedding was on AMC. Where Are They Now: Judith Barcroft (ex-Anne Tyler, 1971-77)

We Love Soaps posted a wonderful interview with All My Children veteran Judith Barcroft (ex- Anne Tyler). The program became a family affair for Barcroft as husband Winser Washam was Agnes Nixon's successor as Headwriter and son Ian Washam was the first Charlie Brent.

Click HERE for this treat for all History fans. I loved the story about how she had to tell Washam to write her out of the show at the dinner table.
