CASTING NEWS: Esta Returns!!

OMG are you serious!?  Should we rename the town from Pine Valley to Zombie Valley?   SOAPS IN DEPTH is reporting that Esta TerBlanche is headed back to AMC as the supposedly dearly departed Gillian Andrassi Lavery.  You remember Gillian... the love of Ryan's life who was shot by an assassin aiming for Anna Devane, and then who's heart was donated to Laura English?   Ahh but here's the twist... David performed that surgery.   So that could mean she is alive after all.  I'm quite interested to see how this all unfolds.  I did love Ryan and Gillian!

So Josh Duhamel and Esta TerBlanche? Plus MCE bantering with Erica in Oak Haven? Got all of my wishes.

THIS is the return I have been hoping for! I love Gillian and Ryan has been such a prick since she left. I don't think he ever got over her! One question though, what's going to happen after the show moves to the internet? Are all these characters going to stay?

OK I would say there are only 3 more people I would LOVE to come back now (aside from Kelly and Mark)...Michael Nadar, Finola Hughes, and Kim Delaney. Get those three back and I will be BEYOND happy!

I love all of these 'dead' pine valley residences as well, but they really are ruining everything that is current on the show, I've watched for over 20 years, and I hate to say it, but I do not like what the writers are doing. I really like Ryan and Greenlee and Tadd and Cara.... once/if the show moves to the internet, they have a lot of cleaning up to do :p

Now my question is Leora somehow going to be alive??? If he could save Leo and Babe, why couldn't he save his baby daughter?

When Gillian got killed, that was the end of Ryan as a bearable character for me. I remember I actually rooted for him when he was fighting the rape charges (Kit Fisher), and battling David for being so cruel to Gillian. But since then he's become a completely intolerable character. I don't know if there is anything or anyone that can even partially undo his utter loathsomeness.

BUT, if there is anyone that can, that would be Gillian!

Hey, if they're bringing back everyone who ever died before their time, then can we have Anne Tyler and Kitty Shea back too??

And how about Harold the dog?

Yay! I love Gillian. I was hoping she would come back someday. Terrific news! Greenlee will be with Leo Ryan will be with Gillian, Tad will be with Dixie and Kendall will be with Zack! I love, love, love it!

I really hoped Zach would come back as a ghost. I like the character but I just LOVE Kendall and Grif. Also, I am so ready for Dixie to quit walking around like a spooked cat. Get her back with Tad so I don't have to suffer another moment of Tad and Cara (blech!). Also, I LOVE MEK, but please AMC don't ever put him in a white track suit again....It looked horrible on him and added like 20 pounds to him.....

Zombie Valley? At first I thought the writers were reaching, getting too far-fetched even for David, but really, if you think about it, the concept of David having been working on such important and world-changing research is, well, right up David's alley. Albeit something straight out of Science Fiction, I think the writers were pretty brilliant when coming up with this idea. Not only does it do David's character major justice, but it gives some of Pine valley's most beloved characters, who have passed on, a great chance to be reunited with their loved ones, bringing everyone together for the final closing of the ending story of Pine Valley, leaving something truly special in the hearts of all the fans! Internet version? Hmm, not quite sure I can be one of those who can 'settle' for an inferior version of such an iconic show. Feels like we'd be cooperating with saying IT'S OK for us Soap fans to be treated so poorly that we'd actually accept the little morsels of bread crumbs their offering to toss our way, just to somewhat appease us, for the moment. Not good enough for THIS soap fan! Sorry.

Hi, Dayni,
I tend to agree with you. I was thrilled, at first, that our soap might continue on the internet, but, as each day passes, I'm happier with "the end." I don't want the veteran actors to be used sporadicly or not at all. The writing to finish the show has been outstanding. So good-bye will not be so difficult come Sept. 23.

Hi Little Libby,

Oh no, saying 'goodbye' will be extremely difficult nonetheless! (for me anyway). I can't even GO THERE in my mind right now. Each show, I purposely 'avoid' those thoughts of the show's nearing end. I've been invested in them for so many years (AMC, OLTL, and GH) that come that final day, it will be as though someone has died (actually, as though MANY have died). I am still in disbelief and at the same time, furious that ABC would actually remove THE soaps from the network completely. No mater how they justify it, it doesn't make any sense. More people are invested in these soaps and have been for YEARS much more than any one cares about 'reality' flippin' television! Please. An injustice has been set into motion and I fear it's only the tip of the iceberg. A perfect example of the 'mindless' decision making idiots in charge these days. It's truly a different world we live in today and honestly, I don't like it! ABC has lost my support because of this choice and I can only hope many feel the same and will stand firm! I apologize for getting so intense, but I am fervently in protest of what they are doing. :o Cheers!
