The End Draws Near...

This week, there are really no spoilers to post.  With the final week of shows upon us, no one is giving much of anything away.   And isn't that how it should be anyway?  I hope we get some good surprises along the way.

I've gotten a lot of emails over the past few weeks asking me what is going to happen to the PVB once AMC ends it run on ABC.  Will it stay?  Will it go along with the show?  Am I going to continue once AMC is in the internet?   I wish I had a solid answer for you.  The fact is, I really don't know what I'm going to do.   When AMC was canceled way back in April, it seemed so hard to imagine that it would be gone, and so would the PVB.  But I came up with the best solution, which was to keep the PVB online for the history, archives, family trees, etc.  I would update the blog as stars from the show got new jobs and things of that nature, and then that would eventually taper off and it would just be an AMC history page.  I felt good about this resolution, I made peace with the cancellation of the show and was ready to move on.

Then the Prospect Park deal happens and I'm at a loss.  It all sounds so hard to believe.  Can it be done?  What are the details?  Will it cost money to watch now?  Is it going to be a daily show for an hour like it has been?  Or will it go to being a weekly show?   Who's going to be on it?  Could it really work?   And frankly, none of these questions have yet been answered and we're all still wondering.  But I keep coming back to the fact that I made peace with it ending and moving on.  So honestly,  it's difficult to really say for sure what will happen with the PVB until we know what AMC will be in the future.  For now I'm going to go with my original plan and keep it going for updates on actors and what happens with the PP deal.

AMC has been very very good to me.  But part of me wishes it had just been laid to rest with dignity.  If it comes back on the internet with just a handful of actors, it will be a whole different landscape, a whole different show.   And since it won't be back (reportedly) until mid January, how many fans who say they will follow it actually will?  Once you have that long without it, the habit is broken.   There are so many questions that I cannot answer other than to say, for now, the PVB will go on as I described (updating on what new jobs the stars get and updates on the PP deal).  But if you are ending your time with AMC when it ends on Friday and want to keep in touch with me, you can friend me on Facebook or follow me on my food blog.  I cannot thank you all enough for the love, support, and friendship you've shown me through the years.  Even the arguments have been a learning experience!  I couldn't have kept the PVB going all these (almost 13!!) years without you.  This week I'm trying to look at it as a celebration.   A celebration of a show I have loved since 1979.  I hope you will join me in that celebration.   I have so many beautiful memories of not only storylines and moments from the show, but times I've had and the lifelong friends I have made because of it.  Thank you All My Children, from the bottom of my heart, for everything.

If it comes back on the internet, I will watch it, unless there is a subscription fee. have been watching this show almost since day 1, so it is like seeing family leaving. The same goes with the PVB...even tho we have yet to meet, I feel as if we have grown as a family as well....I hope for one the PVB never leaves us.....

Kathy, I have read your blog for years, and it's one that I've looked forward to every Sunday. I will sincerely miss it on a weekly basis.
I will miss AMC, and hope that whatever the online outcome is, that it is treated with class and dignity.

Thank you for all the time you've put into this project. And, thanks for all the love you've put into it as well.

I hope to see you on FB!

Kathy, I really hope you keep the blog going - while Soap Net is still a channel, it will show the old episodes, so keep it going. 4 months is not a really long time, and I'm sure we'll hear stuff from the actors and PP along the way. I for sure would read it if you kept it going.

Kathy, I have been watching AMC for about 38 years. I got started watching with my grandmother when I was a little girl on Wednesday afternoons when I got home from catholic school because I had a half day. I have seen every Erica wedding, have cried, laughed and have felt emotionally attached to al the characters. Your blog has been like keeping in touch with old friends. It has also given me something to look forward through the spoilers. I have truly enjoyed reading it. I hope all works out for AMC with Prospect Park so all us fans can keep enjoying our Pine Valley friends for along time to come.

Kathy - you were the first site I went to for information on AMC. I will miss your daily updates and Sunday spoilers. You have kept it real for me. I hope you will continue to write about the old episodes airing on Soap.net and hope you will follow up with any updates you may receive from Prospect Park. It sad that so many great actors will not be tagging along and I wonder what success the show can carry without them. Good luck to you and thanks for the great ride.

Well Kathy, I love your sentiments about AMC and its move to an online format. I do plan to follow it online, however I know that it will not be the same show that I have come to know and love over the years. So, to me this week truly is the end of an era. I have been reading the PVB almost since you began it (at the time I was 11 years old), and I have truly enjoyed it. Sunday spoilers have always been a favorite of mine. I wanted to take a moment to thank you for all of the hard work and time you have put into building a wonderful site dedicated to a show and people that have meant so much to me in my life. I wish you all the best in whatever you decide to do and am glad that I have gotten to know a wonderful person such as yourself a little because of a show that has been there for me through everything in my life.

I'm glad we got to know each other and I've loved the PVB since I found it. Our paths will definately cross on F/B. Thanks for everything you've done to keep us up-to-date with AMC.

Sayonara for "All My Children" as we know it. Best, Libby

I appreciate all the work you've done here. I hope that AMC works on the internet and that you won't be able to resist it there so you'll resurrect the PVB!

If not, I wish you all the best and will always be grateful for what you provided all of us.

Hello. I just wanted to leave a message saying "Why did I just find your blog today???" If not for a facebook friend mentioning it, I would still be in the dark. I never knew this existed. I would have been a regular visitor!!! Now AMC is coming to an end. Hard to believe and harder to accept. I've been watching AMC since I was in the 1st grade... in the early 70's (Half school days). A couple of years from the very start.

Well I must say, I've been reading the blog for the past hour and LOVE what I see here. Especially the family trees. Oh the memories!!! Thank you so much. I know this is hard work but it looks like a JOB WELL DONE!!!

I am so grateful for ALL the time & love you have put into this blog! I've followed it for years. I still can't believe the show I have watched for almost all of my life will be gone, for some 'cheesy' talk shows no less. One thing for sure, I won't be watching them!
Thanks for being here!!!!!!
