COMMENTARY: Dr. Devious

Just a warning, I will be talking about things that happened in today's, Thursday July 21, show.  I'm perplexed as to how everything is going to tie back to David.  We found out today that Dixie is on the other side of the wall where Erica is being held.  Which seems to mean that David would have to know where Erica is, since he is the one keeping Dixie alive.  Yet when he first met Jane he seemed concerned as to where Erica was and how she was being cared for.  I tell ya what though, Jane can give him a few pointers on how to keep someone captive.  Erica is in the lap of luxury while Dixie is basically in a dungeon.  Erica is fed nice meals, Dixie has an IV drip.   Erica has beautiful clothes, shoes and make up to put on every day.  Dixie... well not so much.  And frankly she should have some serious odors and muscle atrophy going on.  She doesn't seem to have either.  She may not have pretty clothes but she still manages to look fresh.  Quite a feat for someone who has presumably been in bed since 2007.

Die?  None dies on my watch!
So just what is going on here?  How involved is David in Erica's kidnapping really?  And while I'm at it who else is he "helping" with his Project Orpheus?  Is Leo really alive?  Is Babe?  I wouldn't doubt it at this point.  And another thing?  Just how far is Oak Haven from the park?  Dixie managed to pull out her IV, pick the lock on her door with the IV needle and walk around like FrankenDixie in the park today.  I kind of always thought Oak Haven was a little off the beaten path from Pine Valley but now it seems like it's right in the heart of it all (which is where the park is) and that Erica literally is right under everyone's nose!

It's all very perplexing yet intriguing.   And I owe that all to Vincent Irizarry (David) who never ever disappoints.  He manipulates.  He lies.  He breaks the rules.  And he saves lives dammit!

so....are we saying that Erica is being held captive at Oak Haven?

Then where the hell did jack, caleb and asher go to save "Erica"? It seemed like they were a ways away from a recognizable area yet they were actually next to a park? All well. It's a soap. This sort of logic just makes sense in the world of soap operas but in the end i don't personally care. I am just looking forward to all of the great returns and hoping the characters get their happy endings:-)

Dixie is going to be returned to Oak Haven, but that doesn't mean she has been at Oak Haven, right? Maybe that's just where Brot takes her?

Does anyone think that David might have Stuart put away somewhere as part of the project since David Canary is returning? I would love a Stuart/Adam/JR reunion!

Stuart being alive would be too much for me. I don't think it would make sense for David to keep him alive and since that storyline was THE event of 2009, you don't need to rewrite it just because it wasn't well received.

This whole thing is pretty complex, but that's not a bad thing.

Well, Ben could be the connection. That is, if Ben is helping keep "all of them" it could be this simply gave him a place for Jane to use to keep Erica. Then again, pretty unbelievable surgery for Jane- medical miracle- AMC logic would suggest no non-Hayward imbecile could pull that off. Could Jane have lost some memory? Do we know how recent her accident is? How old the daughter was? She did say something about parents not loving her, right?

And who's bankrolling Erica's stay?

I still think there's a connection between Jane-Ben and Maya-Mookie. Mookie's obsessive keeping tabs on Maya seems something more than an abusive boyfriend (though the abuse is the "social issue" angle).

I just want to add that today's episode was the first time I've really been interested in Jordi Vilasuso as a leading guy on the show. Since he's arrived, I've been vanilla on him although he was growing on me since he got arrested for Diana Holden's murder. But today, his scenes with David were powerful and rocked with emotion.

Also, I love that you can see the intricacies of the writing now. The timeline of Griffin reaching out to David fits in perfectly with Jake returning in early 2008 and David being offscreen until that fall. That's the sign of people caring about making sure the history fits.

@ammorgan14 Well, the real Erica wasn't actually being held in the place that Jack, Caleb and Asher went to rescue her from, was she? That place went up in an explosion and JANE was "rescued" from it. We still don't know the location that Erica is being held at. It could have been far, far away from where Jane was rescued. In fact, it must be. It certainly wasn't affected by the explosion.

I really liked the way the storylines started going once Lorraine Broderick took over, but using one character, David, to bring every single person, alive or dead, who ever left Pine Valley back to it is way too far-fetched. I know it's a soap opera, but there has to be some semblance of plausibility, otherwise it's just silly and it's supposed to dramatic, right?

Let other things be happening. Let Jane just be crazy and not part of David's scheming (as far as kidnapping Erica in the first place). And please, I beg of you, Powers That Be, have Babe come back as a ghost.

I don't get how Jane, who was a 'virgin' two weeks ago had a (now dead) daughter...fuzzy logic there?

She has said the daughter was adopted, bbird.

I think there is a perfectly reasonable explanation for how Oak Haven can be away from Pine Valley and yet Dixie managed to suddenly appear in the park after escaping...

She clearly used that miracle time/space portal that seems to exist in Pine Valley. The same way someone is at the hospital and *POOF* 2 seconds later in the very next scene they are at the club, or the park, or where ever else they wanted to go. HA!!

I actually think using something like the orpheous project to bring back all of the beloved characters ia a good idea. It is definitely something david would do and it works with many of the storylines because all of the characters he brought or may be bringing back (Babe<3:-) ) are all people who David genuinely cares for so it actually makes sense. It is way better than many characters randomly coming back for different reasons. That would bevtoo out there and would be ridiculous. I just want all of the characters to have a happy ending and if that means bringing some back from the dead than so be it:-)

Okay, there are so many holes in this entire story that my already stretched belief system now has stress fractures. But, I digress.

Trying to get my timeline right, but if Leo ends up being a "project" then wasn't this during the time that Dr. Evil (who I keep hoping turns good, as I'd love to love him, dammit!) was the hospital janitor?

Fast forward to present day. So, David, who seemed surprised that "Erica" was Jane, also employed Ben (who is suddenly in love with Jane and not really just there because he "killed" her daughter?). So the explosion (or whatever it was) that nearly killed Asher didn't harm Erica's duplicate room? It also didn't harm Dixie's cave? With all the security at all of the airports, etc., just how did Erica really get back to Pine Valley? Wouldn't that put Jane on the par with David??

And who is this person that David keeps calling to "move them all" etc.? So will there be Leo? Babe? (who else?) and will they all walk like Frankenstein's monster?

Is David going to have to save Greenlee again?

Sorry to go on like this, but just can't help myself! Really, just hoping for some happy endings.. then, wondering if this internet deal will REALLY work out and if it's going to be worth watching.

We met Lee Meriwether yesterday; took some pix. Her daughter was with her. She looks FAB and she was so gracious!! I didn't ask for spoilers, just told her I was happy she was returning (we actually talked about "Match Game" mostly)

I'm not sure that Erica, or Dixie for that matter were at Oak Haven. Erica is there now for evaluation. When the explosion happened, Erica's room was intact. I'm thinking those rooms are underground. Remember seeing security video with stairs leading to a downstairs area?

The mind reels with the possibilities of who may return. We already know about Dixie, Leo, and Babe (although not sure how). I would love to see Stuart return, even though it sounds ridiculous. But, it's "soapland".

Does anyone remember the day Jesse said goodbye to their real daughter at the hidden gravesite? When Jesse walked away, it showed David standing by a tree smiling.
Don't tell me....

I will say the writing has been better since the writer changes. I still love the show and hope it goes online!

Hope that's not just a ploy of ABC to get attention. Had enough of the attitude of the power-that-be.
Now they want to take credit for the documentary the actors are making of the show for us to remember them by!

I understand legality, but ethically, I feel the ones who deserve copyrights are the actors and of course the fabulous Agnes Nixon. Just my opinion....
